NTLDR is missing?

you dont say what windows you are using, if it is vista, boot from your install disk and follow instructions to repair

you still choose your country "UK" at start but on next screen choose repair not the install tab

I think it's down to a faulty hard drive. I would get it replaced. When I worked for Acer we did have customers with that same fault and just changed the drives.

The only time I think I have seen this is when a non bootable floppy has been left in the floppy drive and the pc is set to boot off the floppy first

i dont have a floppy drive and it never has and is a brand new hdd. I have it working with my mates vista disk but wont work with xp one which is very werid (yes my xp disk does still work), so its not hdd and the floppy problem. Any$ other ideas guys? Got me stumped

Very werid

replace your sata cable, i had the exact same problem and a new cable fixed it.
if still doing it make sure you set the SSD as main boot

Sounds like you've just got junk left in the MBR... you'll just need to clear it, then re-install/repair XP

Havnt had to do it in aaaaaages, used to use a DOS 6.22 boot disk & fdisk with the /MBR switch lol
should be able to do it with a linux live cd too

There are a number of reasons for this to come up.

1. It will come up when you first boot a new build and no O/S is installed. Completely normal and just stick your O/S disk in the dvd drive, set the boot drive to dvd in the bios and reboot. You can now install your O/S.

2. It will also happen if your pc cannot "see" your hard drive that you O/S is installed on. Go into the bios and ensure you have it selected along with the correct controller, AHCI (if applicable) etc. If it still cannot be seen change the cable and even try a different sata socket to rule out a faulty socket.

3. The files can be corrupted in which case you need to copy them from your Windows CD to your hdd with the O/S on. To do this you need to carry out the following:-
a. Insert your Windows disk into your dvd drive and select the drive to boot from.
b. When prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.
c. When you get to the Windows setup menu press "R" to repair Windows.
d. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and press enter.
e. If you have an administrator password you will be asked for it now. Enter it and press enter. If you don't have one just press enter.
f. Copy the following two files to the root directory of the primaru hard drive. In this example we are copying these files from the DVD drive labelled "E". This letter may be different on your pc. These are the exact commands:-

copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

g. when you have succesfully copied these files remove the Windows CD from the drive and reboot.

4. The Master Boot Record (MBR) could be corrupt in which case you need to repair it. Carry out a through to e as above and log into the recovery console. When in the console type FIXMBR and hit enter. When propted hit Y and enter again. Remove the CD and reboot.

I had this happen to me last night after I rebuilt my pc into a new case, I unplugged a SATA cable from another drive and used that then it worked. So I put a new cable in then it didnt work again, then I got the message BOOTMGR not found so I went to bed. This morning it works again, I have no idea.

I had this issue when I installed vista on a brand new Raid0 array that I had created. It turned out that the since creating the new Raid0 my bios had selected my other storage hard drive (which has no boot records on there) as the default one. Going to the bios and changing that under the SATA configuration fixed that though.

Would definately double check that first.

EDIT: Pastymuncher already said this - I missed it
