I have 2 x 512mb sticks in my pc. I have found another stick of the same clock and size lying around the house.

Will 1 GB of the two original sticks running in dual thingie mode be faster than the 3 sticks providing roughly 1.5gb?

1.5gb will probably be faster unless you only use your machine for Word.

With Cubase 1.5gb in single-channel will certainly be better than 1gb in dual-channel.
