Nuclear Container Safety Test

Sorry, not with you there??
All I'm aware of with that particular loco is that it was withdrawn in 1992.

There were also no other locos involved in the crash test- The MK1s that can be seen in some of the pictures/ videos are those which were coupled to 46 009.

( unless you're being smart (or sarkie) )

I was infact just kidding, ie I incromented both the numbers to see if it was real.

47010 was never involved in the test - as leezer quite rightly states it lasted until the 90's, infact I'm pretty sure it was one of the ones that gained a funny Petrochemicals related nameplate at some point.

They were the mainstay of the fleet for most of their life - there are still some in active service today which is more than can be said for any Peak. The derision they have attracted stems mostly from the fact they were absolutely everywhere, and as such not quite as interesting as a Peak or Deltic.

Shame that this no longer the case :(

mmmmmmm deltic mmmmm growler :)

Obviously I wont disagree :)

Sacriledge

Gimme a duff or a growler any day please :D

Back on 47 010, there was definitely a nameplate at some point in the petrochemicals era, but I don't know it off the top of my head & none of the piccies on the Brush Type 4 gallery site are readable.
