Hiyahh!

Been looking at reviews between c0 and e0 e8400s and came across a review site that mentioned something about the numbers at the IHS notch in q/c2d cpus!

Basically this site says that the last 2 numbers refer to the position of the chip when on the wafer, saying the closer the numbers are to 00 the better the overclocking results you will get. This is due to 00 meaning that the chip was closer to the center of the wafer.

Anyone know if this is fact or fiction?

Hmmm, that is quite interesting.. I would also like to know about this as well..

Could it really make a difference which part of the wafer a chip came from?

Surely the ones on the corners would be better, since they only have to be cut twice, reducing the amount of vibration they're exposed to... that sounds pretty far fetched. But i doubt that it makes a difference. And even if it does, not a noticeable one in anybody's book. I also find it strange that 00 is the middle of the wafer... shouldn't it be somewhere like the top left corner?

Yeah, I'd have thought it'd be 00 to 94 (or whatever number it is per wafer), from top left to bottom right.
