NumLock is on when PC boots

Some of them do. Just checked mine and it doesn't .

Guess it depends on which mobo OP has.

I must ask though, why or even how is it annoying?

I've had a mini-keyboard before, that had numlock turn some actual keys into numbers... a bit annoying if it's on at boot as typing your password fails regedit was the answer for me.

Yes, I didn't say that it's a BakkerElkhuizen S-Board 840, and it doesn't have a numeric keypad. When the NumLock is on it's like having it on on a laptop - type o and get a 6.
