Numpty moment & 4K telly question

There must be some sort of law against this? It's tantamount to robbery if people fall for it. Talk about abusing your position. Obviously most of us know on here that it's BS, but plenty of people will (and do) fall for it. Terrible really.

+1

as mentioned before is possible the staff dont know about cables , the guy selling the telly will be the same guy that sells you a fridge and a washing machine !!

Richer sounds is the answer

I don't know... while I have no doubt RS are better than the ignoramus numpties in Currys etc., I've still had some TERRIBLE advice from them in the past, clearly pushing an inferior product on me for reasons unknown (most likely they had excess stock to shift or bigger commission on certain brands), blatantly telling me it was better than another item which I'd already well researched and knew was superior.

Did they offer you some snake oil for the contacts too?

My past two Sony TVs have had passable sound, like no rattling weird sound tone I always associate with CRTs. Difficult to know what you mean by booming, I think it might be your ears :)
It's like a "boom" sound that is heard with deep/bass sounds or deep voices, where most words seem to be accompanied by a background "boom" sound/reasonance. Also music causes it too but is less noticeable.
Ear is clearing now I think so will see how it sounds at the weekend. Think the TV is fine, and as someone else said, better off looking for external speakers /hifi.
Did wonder if it was a dodgy firmware update. Will update if I come to a conclusion but will probably look at getting an external speaker setup

try sticking the tv speakers to wall mounted option sometimes we use it as a work around at work

Got home the weekend and still thought it's odd so resolved it by spending yet more money on a sound bar and sub. Picked up the Sony HT-MT300. Problem sorted :D.
Thanks for help and advice all.
