Hi there,

Right after a little deer couldn't be arsed to wait for my car to pass I'm sourcing bits and peices to put the front end back together. Bought a Clio 182 Nearside Headlamp xenon thingy from ebay (link below).

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300612312...NX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_4375wt_952

Now it turns out , hes sent me a 172 headlamp which is a totally different colour (black instead of grey) which obviously doesn't match my car. The title, and description of the ebay add clearly states several times that the headlamp is for a 182 car! Seller obviously needs to learn to read or go to specsavers as he must be somewhat a dimsum to not know what car he/she is breaking!

So am I expecting too much to sort of demand/request say £20 quid or so to not have to send the item back/leave negative feedback as I need a headlamp to be legal and all that so ideally need to keep it.

When I do find the correct headlight, I could sell the 172 lamp for individual parts making a small profit if I can claim back "expenses" from the seller, do you think this is a sensible idea?

Some Dude I get my trainers off sent 3 pairs of my size 14's to some woman & I got her size 4's, She must have thought what the ****. :p
When I spoke to the Dude via Email he was already aware of the issue & gave us both a refund for 1 pair each, I told him just to send another pair of 14's & not worry about it.
Moral of the story - We All make mistakes. ;)

you've overpaid massively on that btw, i'm sure I got one from cliospares in Doncaster for £50 collected.

The thing is.. I need it so I can drive to work and trying to find a 2nd hand one is bloody difficult when they won't post either, I dont know how much a 2nd hand whole light unit is, I do know however that its £233 new from renault and they couldnt tell me if that included any of the bulbs/electrical gubbins.

So I don't think 120 quid posted for the whole unit is that bad.. I can sell the ballast for £40-50, ignitor and bulb maybe £30-40, and the headlamp case with remaining bulbs adjuster etc.. £50-60 so I shouldnt be out of pocket if I can sell the bits if and when I can find a 182 lamp.

Its just the principal honest mistake or not, I'll email him and see if we can't come to some arrangement, if he doesn't have a grey 182 headlamp in stock then surely hes clearly mis-sold the item right?

I think its more because they can be quite hard to source and the fact that he needs it quite urgently to get his car back on the road seen.

Damage can be seen in Motors.

Precisely this.. I even phoned him up explaining the situation and he posted it the same day that I paid for it, clearly wanting the sale!

I'll see at least if he would refund the shipping, i'll be happy with that if he honestly thought it was a 182 headlamp.

How people can survive without a car I don't know.

Oh wait...

They aren't hard to source at all, OP has said the local dealership can fit them. I'm sure if he went to a private garage then they would be able to source one. Hell you can even buy the part from the local dealership and fit it yourself or get a friend/private garage to do it for less.

OP is trying to cut costs by going the long route, which is fine. But to try and get more money from the seller making a mistake isn't going to speed things up.

Right, so the seller actually sends the item promptly to you after a phone call.

And how is it you want to go about this?

Give the guy a bell and ask him, mostly people jumping down your throat as usual in GD.

Then when it comes to it buy another 172 headlight as they look better ;)
