Nurburgring - Easter 2008

I did wonder if you were going to spot me yesterday..... Karussell?

The photos will be up later on nurpics.com

Shame about the snow today but there isn't anything you can do about that.. If you are stuck for something to do you could always pop round to nurburgmotorsport.com about 1400hrs. Its their opening weekend and they have a VLN race car (can win a lap) and a couple of other race cars etc Food and drinks too :) Something to see and break up the day! Directions are on the site! Very easy to find and close to the ring in Quiddlebach.

You should recognise me from yesterday!! :D

Oh cool! What were you driving dude - might have some pics. :)

The main thing is to drive how you feel comfy. Don't be pressured into going faster and don't worry about taking it steady. If someone faster comes along give them plenty of room and keep to the right, if unnecessary ease off a little and let them past, don't let your ego get the better of you and see it as a challenge.

Don't worry about timing it or comparing yourself to others, just have fun.

Good pics, shame about the snow.

I went early April last year and had a great time! I recorded speed and RPM against time with my car computer which made an interesting graph.
It was my first time round a track and I didn't feel too pressured to push it harder than I felt I should.

I'm off to the ring in summer with a Bentley CGT and an Audi R8. Cant wait. Will be just as much fun driving there as it will on the track I should think! :)

looks awesome, i fancy doing a driving holiday next year and this would be oe of the venues en route!

just out of interest could you do a break down of costs to make it to the ring including fuel ect? interesting to see how much it costs.

:)

Eurotunnel approx £150 per car
Food and odd bits £30-40 per person per day
Hotel accommodation £30-40 per person per night
Fuel - One tank here, one tank back (so about £150)
A tank of fuel while here (or more, depends on number of laps) so say another £75-150.

Total cost for a weekend (2 nights) would be about £550 per car (assuming 2 to a car sharing a hotel room) so around £275 each.

(note, all this off the top of my head, doesn't include travel insurance or breakdown cover or wear and tear to your car).

Looked like a great time, me and a group of friends are heading over at the end of July.

One thing did any of yous get track insurance ? I want to get some before going on the track but a lot of companies won't insure the ring as its not in the UK. Just wondering what companies people use and how much for a days cover, I know it won't cover the barrier/recovery etc but would like the car covered I don't intend to go mental but more worried of other cars hitting me.

la la la la la tbh;) If you are going in July I would highly reccomend not going over a bank holiday.

GP circuit is open to the public tomorrow :D:D:D:D

Very rare for this to happen so we'll be going out and doing that for sure!

Only having tracked in the safe UK, I'm interested how many "ball shrinking moments" you guys give yourself round the 'ring?

Great pics there guys. Not sure I'd be too confident taking my Astra round in the snow never mind the cars you guys are driving! Cant wait till the 9th of May till I'm back across for 3 days
