Right I am going to gauge interest in how many people would seriously like to attend this trip. This is our 3rd time back to the trip so we have a good idea what goes on as well as the setup.

Yes ideally you do have to be 18 ;)

Any questions please ask. Will be for another week 5 to 7 days.

About 10 OcUK Maybers ;) that will say they will come and won't!!!!1 :p

I'd love to come but couldn't possibly say at this time whether I'll be in a position to leave the country for a few days, or what I'll be driving at the time.

Put me down as a maybe, by your definition ;)

Its the fact we always get yeah I'll come then when we book they say out "btw I aint got a licence" Or "im like in school"

;)

What sort of overall cost are we talking about?

Tank of fuel to get to the tunnel
Tunnel fee (£100) (1st weekend in May is this cost)
Another tank to make it to the ring/maybe 2
Hotel is about £30 per night
Ring tickets 8 laps about £30
Food/beer (we spent a lot here)
another 2-3 tanks of fuel home.

These are all estimates

with this much time in advance would it not be better to look at ferry? it was far cheaper was it not?

Tom.

You can go by ferry but it sucks with times/delays etc Tunnel just turn up and jump on.

The different between the ferry and tunnel are:

Ferry has to go further each way than tunnel (about 40 miles extra driving
Ferry is slower
Ferry you have too check in earlier
Ferry might be delayed (weather/checks - we had a 2hr delay)
Ferry is also cheaper

Tunnel is quicker/shorter/no delays and if you turn up early/late they just put you on the train before/after.

Yes once date has been picked i'll put up times/prices for both and we can meet somewhere.

Good work then!
Id actually have a fear of flipping a focus, let alone a zafira

I tell you it was bouncy to say the least but mucho fun. I could do 10 mins in a 2ltr Diesel Zafira with time

It will be a major factor of wether or not i can go/afford

tom

Its a Toll road so as long as you have europe cover your fine :)

I'll just add that you should check the small print of your policy to make sure the ring isn't specifically excluded as I believe there are some insurers that put it in as an exclusion.

Sounds like a fantastic experience but i'm too much of a wimp to take my car round the track :o

Tow to the side of the road - oh look it happened here :o

Why is the tunnel so expensive? A group of me and four housemates went over on the tunnel and it cost us £50 return. Booked about a week in advance (£10 each)

Any idea on dates? (Thinking of when my exams might be). Do you know when the next trip is? I'm hoping to get a new car Aug/Sept '06

Thanks :)

It will be in may 2006. Tunnel for the 1st weekend in May return is £106 :)

Hi

Thanks - I noticed that it was in May. It's just that my final exams are in May too so I was wondering if you were thinking early/late May. If it's early May then I'll have to step out!

Won’t know the dates haven’t been released yet, I think they are released early next year.

Were there any repairs needed on your last visits guys? For example, brakes/tyres etc

Anyone know the round trip mileage?

tom

Its about 1000-1400 for the mileage and tyres/brakes were a little wasted :o

mr tommo said:
But not so wasted that they needed changing there?

tom

Oh god no, the track doesnt waste them that much.

Just working out the cost atm, does £600 exc Food & Drink sounds about right averaging roughly 25mpg :o?

tom

Should be fine with that mate :) What car is it?

Providing I can get a lift, and i've got no exams i'm a definate. Obviously who ever I get a lift off can expect a contribution to petrol/ferry fairs for the trip.

I might have a spare bucket seat in a stripped out E36 BMW 328i Sport so we will see.

Dont Bullet cams stick out from the bonnet or roof of the car though? would have thought they could be spotted pretty easily?

Did you take yours last time mate?

tom

you can put them anywhere inside of out so can hide them very well.
