Nürburgring Research Trip

Good luck with that dude, it can be really rewarding. I'll find out if a short film i wrote will be chosen/produced within the next few weeks s i'll be busting a gut filming/editing hopefullly. Tis a lot of fun hehe, well worth 3.5k :)

I'm starting to get the hang of editing and want to branch out into more subjects so hope I will get better over time.

I think I have since my first release on here!

I thought most budding editors/directors and so on used relatively cheap equipment - after all a £3500 camcorder won't instantly gift you with godlike directing abilities any more than a 3 grand SLR would make me into David Bailey overnight.

Wouldn't it be more sensible to invest in a cheaper camera to "learn the trade" on? I'm assuming this is working towards a career or some other money making exercise, not just for fun?

I never said it would Lopéz?

I had the money either way for car so I am going for the best I can afford.

WOW this thread has gone massively off subject!

Wasn’t asking for advice around my camera but just letting people know I should be going to the ring

Missed this last bit

***EDIT***

I already own 2 DV cameras and the next step in quailty is HD. Yes there is cheaper HD cameras out there but I dont want them.

Why do people buy BMWs/Audi when they can have VXL/Ford?

This was only to let people know I should be going back and nothing to do with my cameras :)

I know you didn't, I was just trying to illustrate a point  I've not watched much of your video work because the files are all so huge, so I've no idea if you're a good director/editor or if you suck :D

But I'm inclined to agree with Fox - last month it was a fully prepped no expense spared BMW track car that was then going to be a racing car, now that's off and you want to buy an incredibly expensive camera to make films of people driving the 'ring.....which I'm assuming you're going to want to sell? Or is it just a hobby? :)

You change your mind more often than any bird I know :p;)

With the track stuff there was always something in the back of my mind saying don't do it but tried to block it out.

At the end of the day I couldnt do something im not 110% behind.

No plans to sell any footage.

haha :D

@ Dangerous

O/T but as it's an interest of yours i'm asking you.
do you have any info RE: 'ring lap times for more mundane cars?
2 litre mondeos....306 diesels and the like??

at some point SOMEONE must've taken ordinary cars round the ring and i'm curious to see what lap times they'd be looking at.

The Gtech has Astra,A3 and Zafira. I did it in 10:46 BTG that was a 2002 Zafira Club 2ltr DTi so im guessing the Mondeo and 306 would be quicker?

I had a Merc A class 1.6 petrol that I kept up with just couldnt overtake on the straights but kept up in the corners, he finished about 5s quicker than me overall.

do you know of any official lists of lap times, possibly incorporating ordinary cars and not just high performance vehicles.
maybe bikes too?

What about the fact video equipment is banned at the Nurburgring? A bullet cam is fairly easy to hide but a larger HD camcorder certainly won't be.

Its not meant for in car footage around there.

I'll thought about doing a "Best of Dangerous" as I've just put all my tapes onto my PC.

Wouldn't charge any of these just ask people to send me a SAE if I did :)

Stuff isnt good enough IMHO to charge and dont want too either.
