was wondering if anyone has the 3d vision glasses and monitor after seeing a 22' bundle on ocuk for under £400. and with resident evil 5 comming out soon im tempted. can anyone give some feedback about how good it is? also do you have to have 120 fps minimum for games to be smooth? that would mean not running games at native reloution allot of the time or lowering the detail settings a bit.. so do you not notice the quality drop so much with 3d vision if you do haee to do this?

TBH ild save yourself the £400 as realisticlly it a fad and itll depreciate faster than Enron shares did a fair few years ago.

Buy a nice big new monitor or a better graphics card, 295 or 5870, youll get more benefit from those

heheh thanks well i was thinking about a 2nd gtx 280 as this would be cheaper and faster than a 295. appreciate the input though thanks. would like others opinions though!

optoma are updating or bring out new hd65 projectors to support 120hz by the end of this year, so it works with nvidia 3d, the project is only 720p but 3d vision and a 100" screens would really suck u into the games. thats what i waiting for.

lol np i was a bit "blunt" lol

Mate of mine got the nvidia 3d vision bug... took 4 people to talk him out of it and get his feet on the ground as it compromised his rig budget! lol!

Another 280 sounds like a cracking idea for you :)
Anyway lets see what the others say, this'll be interesting to read :)

TR did a recent review of the package I thought that it might be of interest to you.

good read thanks. i'm even more tempted now lol. 1 thing im still not 100% though is how fast do the games need to render to become playable? is it a case wheere yes 120 fps is going to be perfect like 60 is without 3dvision but in actual fact some games run fine at 30 fps normally so if your game is rendering at 60 with 3d vision it would still appear smooth?

shameless bump why is everyone so uninterested in 3d vision - all the reviews i've seen so far are mosly real positive!

probably because the only monitors that support it at the moment are both only 22inch, i'm gonna be all over this when the Asus VG242H launches

Because it's expensive, but 3D is definitely the future. Limitations are cost, bandwidth of video ports and you have to wear glasses. Though some manufacturers are developing monitors/televisions where you don't need to wear glasses.

3D is coming on strong this year, especially in the cinema. I've seen Monsters and Aliens in 3D and that was great, especially parts when objects come straight out at you. Coraline, Bolt and Ice Age are 3D. And this is not the magenta, green glasses of the 70s. These are polarized glasses that are all black and don't look make you look that goofy. Avatar is coming out at the end of the year, by James Cameron, with live action CGI so that should push 3D further into the mindscape of consumers. I personally can't wait for it to become common place. The jump from flat 2D to 3D is like the first moment you saw bullet time in the Matrix or dinosaurs in Jurassic Park.

The cyan/red, magenta/green glasses make me feel sick. My interest in 3D died shortly afterwards.

I think I'll hold out until we all have polarized tv's at home!

Not 100% true, nvidia have just chosen the most expensive way forward, there are many other cheaper options that they could've taken.

No, I mean LOL at 3d for any price.

You got free 3D spec's and games bundle's with cards a while back. That was when everyone had 120Hz monitors and it still failed.

The 3D kit is great, really impressive granted if you're a pro gamer wannabe it's not going to help your scores on-line.

I'm loving playing through Fallout 3 again with it. Really immersive & pulls you into the games. Though don't expect things to jump out at you from the screen much as it adds depth to behind the monitor.

So the monitor becomes kind of a portal into the game world if you get me. Though you do get some popout in some games.

Oh & to answer you're question about do the games need to be running at 120 fps minimum, no i don't think any of mine do & they all run smooth & fine. Burnout rocks too :D

I've used the 3d kit on quite a few games, it truely is awesome. Way better than those flimsy free glasses you get. Things are actually 3d and you feel you can touch them, games are definately more immersive.
Personally i wouldnt buy the £400 set because the monitor is just too small for me. You can plug the graphics card into a "3d ready" tv (100hz+) and use a bigger screen.

I decided to go the projector route and buy the optoma hd700x which is basically a HD 65, they did announce they would release a firmware update to enable 3d on this projector but that was like 6 months ago so im not sure if its still going to happen...
Still I LOVE PLAY ON 100INCHS OF PURE SCREEN GOODNESS :D

I think the 3D will pick up a lot more when they make bigger 120 Hz monitors. Until then, most people won't buy it, especially if they have a 24" plus monitor. Makes to sense to downgrade to 22" just for 3D.
