I'm considering purchasing a GTX 580 with a And ofc the 3D Vision kit from nvidia I was wondering if the 3D experience is worth it? I play COD games and probably battlefield 3 aswell as wow. I'm running with a 6950 atmo and curious if the GTX 580 Will be a decent upgrade?

3d vision is fun for a week or 2, but hasn't made it's way into my regular gaming routine - it's good for playing about with but I wouldn't tend to use it if i'm playing a session of COD or something like that as it will just be a disadvantage.

There doesn't seem to be many 3d blu-rays out that are worth getting it for either, I tried saw 3d using the 3d vision kit and it looks pretty cool but not really my cup of tea for a film. I'd say if you already have or are looking at getting a 120hz monitor and an nvidia card it's worth getting, but not worth shelling out for all 3 just so that you can get 3d.

Well the monitor I think will make all my games look smoother which like you said it is worth getting but is the GTX 580 a big improvement from a 1gb 6950, and with that monitor its still only 1680x1050

I'd remove that link - linking to that site is not allowed,

That monitor wouldn't be compatable with 3d blu-ray due to the resolution so if your also looking for 3d blu-ray support I'd go with something like the LG w2363d as it is full HD res and pretty cheap at the moment:

I wouldn't think you'd see a huge performance increase between a 6950 and a 580 but couldn't really comment tbh as I haven't used either.

3D Vision could be better if the game developers put more effort into it for the Windows platform. Metro 2033 was good in 3D Vision but the GTX 580 will struggle with maxed graphics settings and high resolutions. Well, my gtx580 had a tough time in metro 2033, probably i got a naff card? hehe!.
