NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

What's really confusing me is that in both Nvidia's marketing slides and also the DF preview video, it shows a roughly 2X performance uplift from 40 to 50 series but this is with 2x and 4x FG respectively. Surely this means that ALL of the performance uplift is due to the additional frame generation, meaning there's literally no raw performance uplift at all?

This just doesn't make sense, especially in the case of the 5090 which, based on specs alone, should be about 50% faster than a 4090.
This video is quite good and answers your question i believe

Haven't followed anything on this, looking at announcement nVidia are not looking at releasing 5060 cards in foreseeable future and letting AMD have entry level market?

Yeah the 80 class is now what would have traditionally been somewhere between a 60 and 70 class product a few years back.
Happy to see people waking up now to what is happening... less every generation for a lot more money and more fake frames now. We did warn people at the time and here we are. The 50 series is a classic example of how poor things are getting.

Anyways remember 5070 is 4090 performance ... and 3070 is 2080ti performance... shocked Nvidia has not been taken to court yet over such claims..

Hoping now people keep their wallets in their pockets and stop falling for these games now, or next gen will be $3k for 6090 and $1.5K for 6080 with even 35-40% the silicon of the top end. Then the whole cut down chips even at the top end what happened to getting 100% the chip as we use to for the 80 class back then and not this fake 90 class .. 90 class was dual chip cards not single chip cards.. They changed the names and chip sizes and adding tech nobody asked for to make frame counters throw out fake readings etc.. Anyways ... here we are..

That is my problem - 100% will never get an FE as they will be taken by scalpers.
I managed last time to get a Zotac on launch at MSRP and would have to be the same this time - Otherwise it will be another 2 years with the 4090 which TBH will be easily done.

Scalpers with no brains maybe.. these won't be scalped and if they try to scalp them they will either lose money or send them back for a refund before the return date expires. This generation is again dead.

I'll be tempted by the 5080 as an upgrade to my 3090. I've got a few hundred on a gift card from another retailer and after selling the 3090, the cost should be reasonable.

If the 5090 had been similar in price to the 4090, I'd probably have got one, but I'm not sending £2k to nVidia. The VRAM downgrade is a potential problem, as I'll probably be upgrading to a 4k or 5k UW OLED monitor in the next year or so.

How??? Nvidia was begging me for months to buy a 4090 during it's release. They kept spamming me with emails inviting me to buy a 4090 lol.

I can't see the 5080 being much more than 35-40% faster than the 3090 and with only two-thirds of the VRAM. Not sure how much of an upgrade that really is unless you really want the framegen stuff.

I really love the look of the 5090 FE cooler, just wonder how cool and quiet that thing is under heavy load for a two slot cooler. If it's very good, then AIB's really need to step up their game and start shrinking their coolers.
