NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Saying the standard resolution should be one that requires a 1500 computer PART at the minimum is a... strong statement. I've spent a lot of money on my setup and I hate the word privilege but I think if you think the average person should be buying 2,000.00 graphics cards, I think that shows a slight disconnect from the economic reality for a large portion of society, even in the west

Exactly where I mentioned only getting one from OCUK rather than directly off their site, they are probably hoping this is the magic pill to get them out the ****
Even if it was, wouldn't be supporting them after what they did to their workers on pay and such and would rather go with Alphacool or similar. Also gigabyte are doing a waterblock GPU.

wont be anything wrong with an FE even it it runs 10/12c hotter or 2fps less.

Is there any binning that goes on in any of these models like at all? Like the strix line for example, is just a random die, same as "gaming oc", or "ventus", a founders card, or anything right?

I assume ASUS will bin their own allocation of 5090 dies at least? I wonder if Nvidia keep the best or sell them for higher margins to ASUS and others for their top cards.

If I can't get an fe day 1 I'll just wait. I have a temporary graphics card I'm using. Ps I don't think the gains will be that small when all said and done :p
I want to agree with your optimism! But the Far Cry 6 benchmark leaves a bit to be desired. I think a 30% uptick in raster over the 4090, plus an FE 5090 is need to persuade me.

I have a 3090 Suprim X
(Shockingly paid £2,150 for during COVID)

Is it worth upgrading now or wait for 6 series.
I was thinking of maybe changing to the 5080, so I don't get burnt as much.

What would be the best choice... 5080 or 4090?
It seems like Nvidea keeps locking its best/better features behind a paywall with each series.

Haha no, but only just. The upgrade to a 5090 is 235. I'm positive the reviews will be a lot more exciting than we think. That been said those keeping the 4090 it's a totally viable plan... unless you are @mrk.
4090 staying put here.

Sure I said it in the Cyberpunk thread or something but the day I can't get ~100fps at 4K is the day I need a new GPU. Long as how that is achieved is responsive and high quality then that's all that matters, looks like DLSS upscaling and frame gen is about to get a new visual upgrade for all 40/50 series cards with the 30s getting the visual and fps gains too just without FG. So all's good.

Edit*
I'll have one for free, but paying for one from a 4090 is beyond even me after all the details post-announcement now, and I just bought a mouse for an absurd cost mainly because it is metal and feels nice :D

I mean I'm realistic but not pessimistic.

A 20% bump in raster plus more than that in dlss and frame gen and extra vram is enough for me to justify the extra I'm paying.
All power to you if you think that 20-30% is worth the extra money... DLSS 4 and FG bump in performance is coming to the 4000 series too, just not MFG as you know.

Just out of curiosity do you use it more for than just gaming? That really isn't discussed much and i can see if it being used as a workbench card then its much more appealing to part ways with the money regardless of performance uplift in rasterisation.

I'm not sure I agree with you on what the reviews will bring, but nothing wrong whatsoever with your optimism :)

But the upgrade is a no brainer for 235 quid, it's like when I upgraded my 2080 to a 3080 for 159 quid, it's just great when you're in that position so all I can say is enjoy your new card!

I am upgrading for £235 so significantly less than most. Only gaming and home theater, and general gaming use. It does tend to be triple A games on a 77inch oled screen on a 144 hz screen though, so I give it a good work out.

Fair enough, i did see you considering a 5080 which is why i originally posted whether you regretted selling the 4090 but if you get an FE 5090 whether thats day 1 or a month down the line then for £235 its great!
