NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Combination of scalper bots and I also heard the "hidden" links to their selected retailer were leaked a few minutes before the launch time.

You're right, it'll be exactly the same all over again.
Oh wow. I hope those have been fixed this time.... Tbh, if i can buy a 5090 FE within the first 3 months i will be chuffed. I managed it for the 4090 so let's see.

Looks like UK FE prices (inc VAT) are:

5080: £979
5090: £1939

AIBs going up to £1550 for 5080 means they're awful products given FE 5090 price. Either get a cheaper 5080 or 5090 FE.

The main problem I have with Frame Gen isn't even the technology itself, it's how it's implemented in games.

In the two most recent AAA games I've played, Dragon Age and Indiana Jones, FG was just straight up broken at launch.

Imagine buying a game and the main selling point of your GPU just doesn't work for 1/2 weeks until they patch it.
I find it weird as the input lag doesn’t match what your eyes are seeing on the screen.

Then there is the artiacts and ghosting especially when there is anything moving fast on the screen or the camera is panning.

Finally I find it is less stable and makes a game more prone to crashing.

From a 4090 owner I think this rounds a miss and I will wait for the '6000' series.

Given that the 5000 series based on the same process and architecture as the 4000 series with some tweaks, and consequently they've had to go 'all out' on the 5090 to put enough difference between it and a 4090 to even start to justify the well over £2,000 price most will be paying for a 5090 in the UK...

512-bit bus (when was the last time even a top stack consumer GPU had that?), 32Gb of the fastest RAM and a frankly slightly worrying thirst for power.

6000 series will hopefully allow NVidia to bring the power consumption back down.

There was enough drama with the new(ish) power connecter we had with the 4000 series... is that 575w TDP going to contribute to some further issues this time around?

Definitely man, buy an FE, no reason to pay 500 more for a crappy 4 slot hunk of scrap

I dont think it's anything relatively new that AIB's can cost a lot more than the FE.. well not at least since the 30 series. When the 40 series was released and that was £1699 for a 4090 and i got a Gigabyte gaming OC for £1920 and the ASUS cards were mainly going for 2k+ so anything from a £200+ mark up on the FE isnt unexpected.

Agree. Not unexpected, but very disappointing. It will be the exact same this time for the 5090. Maybe even worst given they are all even bigger cards this time.
