NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

I would pay £800 for mrk's 4090. His has extra warranty on it and i know he would help out if it went wrong.

I would not pay £1000 though. I just don't think a used 4090 is worth that. I find it surprising people buy used ones for such sums.

5080 won't be that far behind it and can be had for less than a grand brand spanking new.

People will go on about vram. But I ain't paying hundreds extra for that. Sorry, I don't play Skyrim modded...

16GB will be just fine until PS6 comes out.
I'd be wary of second hand 4090s because of the potential problems with the power connector.

I've had the 4090 for a year and I haven't played any recent triple 'AAA' games? There's a myth that needs squashing. There is a life outside Cyberpunk, Alan Wake 2 and Black Myth Wukong

Looking forward to the 5090, and collecting more 'RTX' features I'll never use (MFG, Hairworks RTX Hair, RTX Fur, the horrible AI face thing  )
Same. I dont care though, because I can pump out 250fps on Warzone :D

I dont waste money on things like the cinema or buy many new clothes and things. I spend money on a good GPU, food and travel. (but mostly paying my mortgage, saving for wedding and in the near future...kids)

You're more happy than me to live with a weakness of the product. I'd worry about reliability and safety.

I'm glad to see that the connectors have been revised for the 5000 series.

I think it was also revised on some late 4090 models as well… tbh probably difficult / awkward to find out by publicly ask the seller. Seems a bit mean to trash the sale if the answer is ‘it has the old connector’.

Sounds like copium to me. MFG isn't extra performance - it's a motion smoothing technology with added latency. And no, all rendered frames aren't fake - that's just another "line" being trotted out on the likes of reddit by those who can't quite come to terms with the fact that the 5000 series cards are a bit of damp squib.
While all frames are fake, some are more fake than others.

Oh ok, wasn't aware of this. That'd be a bit more reassuring. If they could be identified in a seller's listing image.

Some early thoughts on the 5090D from a Chinese review.
Summary: don't get your hopes up too much.

So in summary

* No realm improvements in the cores, any performance comes from having more of them

* the card's clocks don't boost high because its power limited - 575 watts is not enough and the GPU would like more power

* games averaged 20% faster performance without using fake frames

3nm can't come fast enough, Nvidia is cooked, this architecture has nowhere else to go, Nvidia is gassed. If RTX6000 isnt on 3nm, the 6090 will be a 1000w card
