1). Doesn't matter what I consider "old".
2). You seriously expect me to go find statistics? The sky is blue, do you need proof of that?
3). Are you a flat earther?
Your over-defensiveness and passive aggressiveness when being challenged tells me you are not at all sure of what you are talking about. You're insecure.

The vast majority of games in existence will not support DLSS4, an insignificantly tiny fraction of all PC games on the Steam library. To buy a card specifically for that feature over a card with far more raw power, is not going to make sense to a lot of people.

Isn’t this purported ‘far more raw power’ only really applicable to the ‘tiny fraction of all PC games’ of games that require additional VRAM? You can make that argument both ways.

Let’s look at some performance metrics for a modern game that runs decently, getting rid of all VRAM and VR bias:

If the 5080 does only give 10-15% performance improvement over the 4080 (let’s go with 12.5%) - which I do think would be a disappointing uplift tbh - then I’d expect it to push 106.5 fps. That’s compared to the 4090s 127.8 fps which is a 20% uplift.

Is this really ‘far more raw power’? It’s not a game changing difference IMO.

If you think so, then you’d presumably have to also conclude that the 5090 has ‘far more raw power than the 4090’, since that provides a supposed 30-35% uplift over the 4090 - which if we call that 32.5% would be putting out 169.3 fps.

Upcoming triple-A games like The Doom The Dark Ages, Witcher 4, GTA 6 or any new Unreal Engine 5 game will feature DLSS4 and massive FPS gains with Multi Frame Generation. I think this is a major point for Blackwell GPUs.

By the time Witcher 4 come out and Rockstar bother to port GTA6 we'll be eyeing up Blackwells successor.

What have I missed other than 4090 owners getting touchy because a lower-end card of a new series is about to top them?
Correction. Low-end card, because that's what the 5080 is now. And I'm not even convinced it will topple it. Will be interesting to see.

Edit: forgot the /s. Because the haters will come for me otherwise.
