NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Lots of 4090s still have warranty.. i got mine on release and still have just under 2 years left. Im sure as well there is plenty that have been purchased more recently that have even longer warranty.. Most of the big name AIB's allow transfer of warranty as it's tied to the card not the original purchaser.

Just depends how comfortable you are spending that sort of money in the 2nd hand market.
Thanks for that I didn't realise Gigabyte give a 4 year warranty, definitely of note if I go for the 5090.

5090, 600w, gonna be loud and hot.
Likely to end up a huge issue for many
these kind of watts really needs watercooling as standard.
Even power limited to 80%, my 4090 really heats up the room during the summer. Very noticeable after a few hours gaming. Dread to think what the 5090 will be like, especially if it isnt as efficient and runs constantly at 500+w.

Am I right in saying EVGA was not quite the same here in the UK as the US? I know the Yanks loved them, but from what i have read their service here in Europe was more in line with other AIB cards manufacturers.
My memory is a bit fuzzy on them but IIRC they used to offer lifetime warranty in USA, I think we got 5y, then it became 10y in USA and then maybe same as us? certainly I do remember it being way better for guys in the US then us here in UK/EU, I only had 1 EVGA card which was a 980Ti, and it was good but nothing better then the MSI one I had also

I think a lot of people will immediately do -20% power limit, you don't really lose that much performance (maybe 5-10%?), and the temperature as well as fan noise levels drop significantly. I've always done it for my GPUs for years.
A 460w 5090 won't be that far behind using 575w I'm willing to bet.

I have a standalone unit which does the job(ish). My building is in a conservation area so I cannot make changes to the outside. When i move I 100% will get a proper external AC unit installed.
Yeah that's what I have. One of those ones where you stick the hose out the window. Best £250 I've ever spent. Proper AC would be even better, I'm probably going to get that installed at some point, at least in the entertainment room.

I had three of those in Tri-fire and it sounded like the active deck of an aircraft carrier. I moved to a 295x2 shortly after and it was like a gentle breeze on the beach relative.

Blowers like that do have their place. If you were doing a relaltively compact SFF with a push-push front-to-back fan config, the were great ad moving air straight out the back of the case.

As an American who was an EVGA follower in their hey day (I was one of their OG forum members), yes, they were looked on as a shining beacon on a hill. Service was bar none the best, they had their Step-up program (which I used 4-5 times), reps were thorougly engaged on their forum, and they had preferential programs for long-term members. It was the only product manufactuer I can recall where registering your product was actually worth while and got you things. Their product design was also top notch at a time when many AIBs were just winging it with bog standard. Think Asus... if Asus had good CS, was engaged with fanbase, and had good purchase programs. I was surprised they weren't as popular when I moved over here.

Don't think these will be as efficient, still the same node and looks like they increased power to gain performance
Yes that's what it looks like. I feel the 5080 might have some good undervolting results though as that looks to be the card pushing the boost clocks the highest into diminishing returns.
