NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

It's taken away that voice in the back of my head that kept saying YOLO and potentially splashing out on a 5090 but that's a grand saved I'll put towards a holiday instead :D
Careful mate, some folks round here don't seem to take too kindly to folks spending money on things other than GPUs
But otherwise... wise decision. Personally if I had a 4090, I probably wouldn't bother buying another GPU for the next few years.
Needs to be significant performance improvement to be worth paying hard-earned money for an upgrade. In the 100s of %s.
If I am spending £2000 on a GPU I want the flashy box, with extra gloss, and embossed logo, and the useless accessories.
Exactly. Forget this nonsense and lies about economical when the GPU itself guzzles more power. Even recycling-wise, most folks still keep and use their GPU boxes, for sending off for repairs, RMAs, or even just to sell it on later on down the line. Clearly Nvidia just wants to get a high score on making customers pay more for less

Even still, a nice fancy box for a product, can end up being a nice display piece. Even when that product doesn't work anymore. Or it can be reused to store dog food :D

Most sensible recycling for the box is by giving it to the cat or cat shelter

If reviews are happy with thermals and noise FE or AIB then my FOMO will be at 100%

right now my interest has dropped off from the buzz I had for 10 days, as more and more information has filtered through.

Don't really want to rely on the reviews vs personal experience, but for the prices being asked this time, I will do.

50/50 for now as my FOMO has dropped off :D

i want it to be signed with gold for 2k. With proper extension lead, not a 20cm floppy thing. how many GPU generations they need to learn that 30cm extension lead is a bare minimum
Nvidia have yet to learn 12GB VRAM is the bare minimum for any GPU these days, so will not hold my breath.

If the Fe cooler is that good I'm honestly considering skipping liquid cooling this generation. I'll just save the money on a block, bypass the GPU in my hardline loop and go FE until 60 series.

LOL, in what universe?!

3080 was 35% faster at most, and that was at 4K.
I’m just trying to find where I mentioned gaming and instead touched on AI and Raster performance.. ah I see it, sat between never and what?!

AI isn’t doing anything for my work loads and I’m not buying a quadro/similar.

Raster performance is looking like 15% card on card 40 to 50 series. That’s a far cry from the 35% you’ve mentioned for a ti 80 series vs a non ti part. The gap goes 50+ when you consider 2080ti vs 3080ti and 100%+ in typical work loads.

We won’t be getting that with the 5080 over the outgoing 4080 super. You’re looking at 10% again most likely for games..

AI and RT is looking more and more like it’s going to be needed for future gaming. I’m glad I experienced gaming in the 90s and 00s. Games are over processed DEI none-sense these days and so is the hardware required to run them.

The 1080ti which lets face it is a god like product is now looking like it will be relegated to e-waste following these RT only bombshells. Such a sad sad time for gaming.

Derbauer made some off-the-cuff remark at the end of his video, saying the 5090 felt more like a 4090Ti to him.

At which point I suddenly realised why they never released an actual 4090Ti.
I wonder if they were going to release a 4090Ti but sales of the 4090 were doing well.
Then with the upcoming Trump Tax and advancements in A.I. they thought they could bundle it all quickly through the door and label it as a 50 series :0/

Anyways I'm deffo going to see how things look on release and most probable will sit out for 60 series.
Poss switch to a 4090 (or 4080Super) from my 3090 if I fancy a small treat.

unboxing videos of the 5090 are currently out on youtube and as expected the size looks pretty small

At least compared to the absolute mammoth that was the 4090

Tbf you could probably just miss out the graphics card bit.
Don't worry, Jensen hss you covered. The 5090 generates an AI girlfriend, why bother with a real one

Also a funny hint, HWUB Steve's body position correlates with the over sentiment with a product review. He was standing during the 5090 unboxing ;)

Noticed that as well, as did all the top comments. Definitely intentional. He also confirmed availability for the 5090 is basically zero from what he has heard. Although I suspect Australia gets shafted at the best of times anyway.

I really didn’t understand HUB’s position of saying they would first do a review without the DLSS stuff - if you’re omitting what is supposedly a ‘selling point’ of a product, whether that’s good or total junk, then it’s not really a ‘review of the product’, is it?

Maybe they’ll do it as a part 1 and then a part 2… for maximum clicks

Either way, not long now until we actually get a good idea of how good the darn thing is!

Yup, there's rumors this is gonna be one of the paperiest launches yet lol, some retailers in NA aren't even gonna get any 5090s in stock, I expect there will be like 10-50 cards per each SKU like the 3080 was, which is why these retailers can pull these pre-built only shenanigans
That is absolutely ridiculous

What have the manufacturers been doing for the past few months? its like Nvidia and their partners have deliberately made sure the release is manic, how are they suppose to make money as a business if they dont want to sell to their customers, insane.

Another one floating through your screen:

Brilliant.
At around 12mins6secs this man has just saved me 2.5 Fat ones.

I currently have a 5900X on a AM4 build, so seems as though my CPU would bottleneck the new cards.
I'm not prepared to do a full build just yet, so deffo sitting this one out.
Stick with 3090 or possibly a cheap 4090 if I saw one as the 4080Super would require a loss of Vram.

Thanks for the post

I just can't watch his videos, he's way too annoying. An absolute whopper of the highest order.
Darn it.. Now I have to see it.. I'm sending you the bill for my future therapy sessions!

EDIT: I swear this is the only time I've ever said this but I only lasted 20 seconds. It was rather painful ;)

What does standing mean again?
