NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

It depends on the case I suppose.

New cpus have high thermal limits. There is no real harm caused by a modern CPU chugging away in the 70s or even the 80s.

Tbh I’m not even sure how necessary it is for GPUs to sit below 70 these days.
Depends, if your pushing silicon limits, colder is better. Ryzen 2000 and 3000 series had throttle points around 85 and I believe my 5800X3D is the same. No clue about 7000 series or 9000 series or whatever SKU intel is on now.

You don’t like dog food shaped boxes? What is wrong with you?
I'm one of those weirdos who, you know, likes results to go with my expensive functional hardware. Whether it's unicorn pink or Master Chief green with five fidget spinners attached, it makes no difference to me.

Spot on. There’s no games out there just now that are good enough to justify spending anywhere close to that. Maybe for mixed usage it may be decent for some but purely for gaming it’s bonkers.
I would agree to an extent. But I'm likely to get one if the overall cost of the upgrade after selling my 4090 is circa 600 or less. Way I look at it, theres a roughly 2 year release cadence. If it costs me 300 ish a year to stay at the top of GPU performance, I can stomache that as I use my PC for work in the day and games in the evening.

£600 or less? So you sold your 4090 for £2,000? :D

I’m going to have to find another hobby which requires a high-end GPU.

I can’t see Nvidia going any higher the for 6090… It’s not like a watch or handbag where you can show it off.

Based on what? Since the 2000-series, the RRP of their flagship cards have increased year-on-year, conveniently helped by certain technological landmarks at the time. First it was bitcoin mining. Now it's AI. They can and will continue to charge ridiculous, ever-increasing prices, because who else is giving them any genuine competition in these fields that is relatively accessible to the general public? Literally no one.
