NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Within context that post is sound, the context now is that the 4090 still exists, the 5090 is out soon at a minimum of £2000. is is a wise choice for someone who already had a 4090n from before, which has lost little to no money today?

Probably not :p

Will the 5090 go the same direction for used values in 2 years too? Probably not either. As someone else said, the 4090n seems to be the new 1080 Ti.

You can't say the hell with the expense then come out with that

You are referencing a comment from ages ago when the 5090 wasn't even being talked about so yes, hence why context matters instead of taking old quotes lol.

Was only 10 months ago you joker ;)

What context? Choice of words are clear. Hell with the expense!

You could have used different words you know :p

With a move from 5nm to 3nm and the 20% power saving and 60% transistor increase that comes with that change, chances are the 5nm 5090 will be relatively worth peanuts when the 3nm 6090 is out, totally different to the current 4090's situation

Nvidia says it will keep pushing for more fake frames, as much as MFG x16 for 4k 1000hz monitors

The year is 2027 and all the 40 series holders who laughed at the measily 30% uplift end up buying the 6090 with it’s 30% uplift on the 5090 but to them its a 69% uplift so it’s worth it…….

4090: 76 billion transistors and 450w TDP

5090: 92 billion transistors and 575w TDP

6090 my estimate based on TSMC's claimed improvements: 148 billion transistors and 470w TDP

You can figure out for yourselves what this means for the resale value of the 5090

Yeah my bad I’m still baffled as to how I landed on that page and those comments from almost a year ago lol

But since when does resale value matter so much when one just smashes their 3090 with a hammer and the other just says hell with it just spend £1600 or more on a GPU like it was normal?

This is why I am finding all these posts hilarious :D

Anyway. Enough of that. I will move on :D

Nah, with how the stock is going to be, one could likely sell 4090 for over 2k and sit for a while on something cheap, then get 5090 after dust settles, likely adding little to none to it. :) Ergo, it's an opportunity for free upgrade and not a time for sadness. That said, even if I could sell 4090 for even £3k+ now, I still wouldn't buy 5090 - too much power, too much heat, I can't stand my 4090 in the Summer as is already, playing usually with 50% power limits to survive. :P
Buy a portable air con, its the best investment you will ever make

And that's why one should always get every second gen at most - for the REAL upgrade :D
