NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

I can see why they supposedly dropped the prices
It's got nothing to do with AMD. I am pointing out that either hardware be it GPU or CPUs used to get flopped if it released with worse power draw than previous generations.

Intel, AMD, Nvidia now it's all OK to push the power with very much gain to back that up.

Compare this to Samsung S25 event, while pushing the performance Samsung also mentioned the great length it went to to reduce power and increase battery life.

O but Nvidia improved the cooling it's still runs 600w though impressive.

Samsung is terrible, hardware stagnation is real whilst throwing more Ai almost like trying to blind you from improving the hardware, fortunately have many more options giving 6000mah battery, much faster charging that use the same chip for less

This comment makes no sense. While I am uncomfortable with the power draw of the 5090 on a single cable you are comparing desktop parts with a mobile phone. Clearly with a mobile defice battery is a huge factor so efficency of its componets is king. With enthusiast / high end dresktop parts I couldnt care less about power draw ( as long as connectors are up to it)

I have a 240hz 4k display, however after looking at the reviews I think ill skip this card, it does seem like a 4090 Ti Super, I may get a 5070 Ti though just to see me through to the 6000 series

So the 4090TI is out..gz Nvidia. £2000 and "some unplayable games with RT" doesn't seem like worthwhile investment.

£2000 for 2% of actual consumers, £2300 and up if you're exceedingly "lucky", and scalper-ville for everyone else.

Suprim was hitting 600W on the connector, overclock it and it rises above that @ HUB Suprim review. Was hitting 80c on the connector as well

I wonder what spec glass filled nylon they are using for these connectors. GFN 12 is only rated to 80c. 60c is hot enough to burn skin at 5 seconds. This spec belongs in the dustbin.
An FoS of 1 indicates that a structure or component will fail immediately when the design load is reached and will not be capable of supporting any extra load. And this 12VHPWR FoS is 1.1.

So i am more than happy with my GameRock 4090 so ill pass until the next round, anyway what would happen if you could run a 4090 at 700 + watts lol.

You'll need that much cash just to pay for the electricity for a few missions on Helldivers 2.. Imagine the real cost of completing Cyberpunk 2077, Civ VI could actually bankrupt someone

More stuff on latency and MFG (from everyone’s favourite):

Edit - this is followed up with comments that the image quality deffo isn’t as good as native (as you’d expect).

It's worse the higher up you go. Optimum's video showed MFG4x has much worse flickering and ghosting than the old mfg2x

Get a used 4090 if you can cop one at a decent price
That's the thing. If I can get a 5080 for £1000- £1200, how much am I going to be willing to spend (and risk) on a second hand 4090? It would need to be well below £1000 for me to even consider it.

I'm doing the same. No major new AAA games out this year that i'm interested in anyway. 4090 + 9800X3D + 4k 240hz will keep me going. I've got my £2,500 ready for the 6090 though :D

The one air cooling fans have been waiting for

They're testing CPU temps with two GPUs

GPU: RTX4090 FE
9800X3D temps after gaming session: 73c

GPU RTX5090 FE
9800X3D after gaming session: 95c

The 5090 FE's double flow cooler cooks your air cooled CPU guys

They also tested what happens if you stick two massive 200mm fans in front of the CPU for extra air flow, and then the 9800X3D temps dropped down a lot. In summary be careful if you buy the FE card - you need a heck of a lot of intake airflow in your case to overcome the heat the 5090 is blowing into your CPU

Can't see that happening. People know what ballpark the prices for 50 series will be and used 4090's are still going on ebay for upwards of 1400 more than a few sold for over 1500 today. This is only a week out from launch

So ideally people need an aio or something similar.
