NVIDIA 5000 SERIES - ***NO COMPETITOR HINTING***

1k for a night of queuing.

I guess people have to do what they have to do. I think I recall a story once where Japanese people would pay illegal Chinese immigrants to queue up for them to get stuff like the PS4 on launch or whatever

Here is the problem with the 5080.

Clear as day the issue and what a joke the 5080 gpu is

It all depends how you look at it:

This is a pretty interesting one from the Tech Power Up review:

It is disappointing that it didn’t beat the 4090 but it’s not terrible value.

^^^ it is ultimately the 3rd best consumer card in raw raster and it's less than £1k (for FE).

Our 3090s are right at the bottom in respect of value :o :D

Kind of in a weird spot with a 3080 and looking to upgrade. I don't want to really get the 5080 given how underwhelming it is, and the 5090 is way too pricey. I was hoping for the 5070 Ti, but given how "meh" the 5080 is, then the 5070 Ti will be even worse. Maybe just hold until 6 series I guess, or hope for a well priced and suitable upgrade with a 5080 Super next year.

And that's at 4k. Now do 1080 and 1440p results and gets even worse

You guys remember when leakers like Kopeite was posting at least once a week claiming the 5080 was 10% faster than the 4090? Pepperidge farms remembers and now it's 20% slower than the 4090

Source of the charts

The point is, the 80 series have in history been around 10% at an average better than the flagship last gen card. This is the first time for over 10 years that a 80 series is slower then the last flagship gen card...

I still don't know what model I even want to try for. Expecting a Suprim at 3k EUR and thus out of my range, and a FE will probably be near impossible to get anyway but aside of that the liquid metal stuff worries me, as I am an idiot in maintaining these sorts of products, I do not trust myself with it.

I don't think the 5080 is a bad GPU, it's just priced and positioned poorly. People would be happy with it if it was cheaper and called a 5070.

But it isn't cheaper or called 5070 Nvidia decided to price it and call it 5080 so it is bad

I wonder how many of the people in that photo actually want the card to use and how many are just in it for the profit opportunity
You know the scalpers are there in force. if I had a flamethrower screw the Geneva convention. Safe to say just like most people in this sub reddit are enthusiasts and true while the 5090 is a dissappointing uplift compared to previous gens for the people who genuinely want it instead of the scalpers just flipping it and denying another enthusiast who actuallys wants one to use in their setup makes my blood boil bu this happens with anything when there is a short supply and huge demand besides 4080 at OG MSRP and ps5 pro and that stupid huwaei folding phone...lulz

Yep, from that angle it's bad. I'm just pointing out it's not a total tragedy - it'll be a decent upgrade for anyone not on a 40 series. In fact, the only other new card you can get that's better (and isn't for a grossly inflated RRP) is the 5090, which is twice as expensive.

Suprim x 5090 SOC £2.6k

That doesn't make sense. If you buy it second hand later for much cheaper, it's suddenly good? The GPU hasn't changed, it's not bad. The pricing is awful. To me, a bad GPU is something I wouldn't ever recommend someone buy.

I think these guys will be viewing it as, stand around in the cold all night, pocket £500-£1000 the next day.

Even the biggest Micro Center's etc in the US have single digit or very low double digit 5090 stocks so only the first few in the queue are going to be able to do that. It's not like it's anywhere near a guarantee just because you've queued for one.
