NVIDIA 5000 SERIES - ***NO COMPETITOR HINTING***

God has this really what GPU's have come down too. Glad i got my 7900xt for £680 which will last me 2 to 3 years.

To be fair choosing to make those prices public a few hours from launch isnt a good look and dosn't inspire confidence to wait for the "real" prices at 2pm when every second counts.
TBC? nah that is the price, give or take 10-20 quid or so, I dont know, but generally OCUK GPU prices tend to be higher than their competitors, from what ive seen in the past.....

Flipping nuts that over 2 years ago I bought a 7900xtx overpriced for £1199, and now there is 5080s for £1800 that only just beat it, in certain games loses to it.. nuts

My son wants to ascend from consoles to PCMR and we have started a SFF build in the Fractal ridge.

He's actually interested in the 5080 and will try his luck at getting one today. I told him he can use my ProArt 4080S until things calm down, (Probably by summer I'm thinking) but if he's able to beat the bots and get a 5080 that fits in his case (and isn't scalped / pre-scalped!), great.

There's actually a scenario where he buys whatever 5080 he can get...it doesn't fit in his Ridge, and then I become the new 5080 owner. (And he just keeps my ProArt 4080S in the Ridge.)

It's hard to judge without knowing how much OCUK suppliers are charging, but at the end of the day as a consumer we only care about the end price relative to the competition.

OCUK usually do well for CPU's but generally worse for GPU's. This must be the worst pricing I've ever seen from them though.

Well the second hand market has exploded since the 5080 reviews dropped. Places like CeX and a local reseller’s 4090s have disappeared and stuff on eBay is just crazy, looking at £2k+ for 4090 cards.

Even seen one that’s damaged and still going for £1300, it’s nuts. But suppose there’s little choice now, anyone who picked up a 4090 for £1-1.5k is laughing.

Surprised the 7900xtx isn't going up in price. Surely it has to reach £1000 used if the 5080 and 5090 sell out (hoping as I have one to sell if I get the 5090fe)

I'm just very happy I don't need to buy any graphics card this time, this all looks like madness, even on other websites, even abroad. Nvidia really got so fat they clearly stopped carrying what we think.

It's not Nvidia, it could be laying golden eggs and still wouldn't be selling that well. :/

Vote with your wallet and don't buy one at launch then?
One or two people won’t make a difference, when they will still sell out in seconds.

It’s like old Joe riding his bike everywhere trying to save the planet, when there are thousands of cars speeding past him giving him the finger.

nVidia never cared what we thought. It's not unique in the industry either. It's a money making endeavour first and foremost, not a charity or research hub.

Thing is stores could be buying units above msrp and consumers won’t care.

All they see is the mark up over the FE cost, it’s not an unfair view to take when you want as much value for your money.

They not learnt again about the pricing.
the thing is, doesnt matter if the retailer are scalping or the scalpers, there will always be a mass market happy to pay an extra 50% just to get their hands on somthng that is in demand

What happens there is it makes it unfair for the general persons not willing to pay anything more than RRP or what its worth, because in this day n age we have a lot of people with a lot of spare cash and this audience will cough up hard becuase they want it 1st

So the general person has to pay over the odds or he will have to wait until the demand lowers and therefore the price so he can buy at a sensible rrp
