NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Just went and cancelled my order sadly Msi Tri x - I ordered really late around 22:00 so I really don't like the idea of not knowing when I will get a product.... just doesn't sit well with me at all. I will now try and see if I can get 3090 on release instead , I also had doubt about 10gb not being enough so feel i am doing the right thing.

So am I right in thinking the custom 3000 series boards just come with 3 8pin connectors instead of FE 12pin.

Just watched a video on the 3080 ftw3 it had 3 8pin connectors.

16gb versions are coming too so you're prob right.

Not that impressed to be honest. They had to voltage shunt it and was drawing between 500 and 600W and using liquid nitrogen and in more pressing benchmarks had to dial the overclock back to 2200 to be stable. I have seen ones unmodded and on water getting close to 2100 boost.

I always remember the rumours from earlier in the year when this was going to be on 7nm, Nvidia were talking about these cards boosting to 2500 when overclocked. Now they would have been beasts.

Well its obvious them 3080s are running almost as Silicone maximum out of box. They scale on overclocking as good as ryzens aka ****.

@imginy if you have Flight Sim, it would be nice to hear performance on 4k Ultra.

I will get it today then learn how to fly and post benchmarks either tonight or tomorrow.

Have you done any over clocking?

The only overclocking that works on my card is putting plus 9% (max) on the power target. Mine boosts to around 1965mhz doing this.

This helps a lot in game, without the power tagert on 9% i was getting drops to 53 in need for speed 4k but with the power target up +9% it was solid 60fps.

RDR2 in 4k ultra please if possible. :)

I just tested 4k and put slider to maximum and then turned off AA and it was a solid 60fps the whole time. (I didn't go and change all the extra settings)

Video here also showing gpu clocks and temps. (it does get warmer than this if I play for longer)

(video is still processsing qaulity will go up once youtube finished it)
It was only a short test, I will play the game for a few hours today and let you know how it goes.

lol nvidia experience didnt record my frame counter.
and fraps counter not showing on red dead.
I will find another frame counter that works with red dead on epic.

Hardware Unboxed found no difference between CPU temps on a 3950X between NVIDIA FE design, and normal triple fan designs.
More testing incoming hopefully.

Wont bother me as its going under water under a full block which will cool everything inc power chokes.

Will be interesting to see how high you can actually clock the memory under water,

What? What about the kingpin edition then? You don't want the gold? :p:D

All that extra money for little gain? No thanks,.

Clearly these gpus are already pushed pretty much to the limits.

I just want a 3090 card with three 8 pin connectors and a 500w bios and a waterblock available and they can have my money :)

And it will still cost less than a kingpin ;)

These fiasco's just get worse and worse. If we as individuals acted and treated our potential customers as do the likes of NV/MS/SONY/APPLE and any current major tech company in 2020, we would be sacked, for being cruel. missleading and out and out scalpers. What they fail to realize is, none of really need their sodding expensive products....not really.

There is extra gain, you get gold under your cooler!

Clearly these gpus are already pushed pretty much to the limits.
But how about that premium gold stuff?

Yeah but how about a kingpin under water? Even better no? The gold...
