ekkk lolStick an OC on 2080ti and where does that leave the 3080 with its 1gb less ram, not looking so good now.

Exactly, it's looking more meh by the day, At least for Turing users.
I mean 79 to 97 in SOTTR is hardly next gen as far I'm concerned, it's barely 20%
Sure if the 3080 was priced around the same as the 2080Ti it wouldn't be worth the upgrade.. But it's not.
Going by the same game, 2070S 59 to 97 fps is a nice increase for a card (at current value) around 100-150 more for the 3080
Or even the 2080 S which at it's lowest price is more than the 3080 -- 65 to 97.
Yeah that's the same way I see it, the 2080 and 2080s were so bad for their price. There was nothing decent for me to upgrade from a Vega 56 for decent gains (was meant to be a cheap stop gap card as Turing was so disappointing I didn't want a 6gb 2060 and then Navi 1 was also disappointing) now with the 3070/3080 I have a good upgrade path.Sure if the 3080 was priced around the same as the 2080Ti it wouldn't be worth the upgrade.. But it's not.

Just had a look at the Firestrike Ultra scores. Assuming those numbers are accurate, at least the gap is bigger than 2070S to 2080Ti (at 4K which is what I game at) and people were paying like £700 or more for that extra performance. I will be getting the whole card for cheaper. Glad I skipped turing
Got to love what the put the source as at the bottom of the page
35.6% faster than a 2080ti in Firestrike Extreme
I recon on newer released games the gap will start to get bigger too.35.6% faster than a 2080ti in Firestrike Extreme
36.2% faster than a 2080ti in Timespy Extreme
Looks good to me and what you'd hope for given advancements in technology and a smaller process node. The games show a little less gains but it's a very small sample size at this stage.
33.3% faster Tomb Raider 4K
22.6% taster Tomb Raider 4K DLSS
22.7% faster FarCry 4K
I mean how do you go from almost double the price from the 1080ti to the 2080ti.
Will have to wait until Monday but for me I just don't think there is enough of a bump over the 3080 to warrant the extra cost. I would like to see an extra 30- 40 % over the 80 class like we had with 1080ti/2080tiJust wondering if I should go for the 3090 but at over double the price it seems expensive to me although I have the money available.
Yeah I get that, so now a 1080Ti to 3080 for the same launch price is what? 50-60%+ improvement on avg..Not to mention the 9Gbps faster ram speed. Plus the fact of being able to do RT and DLSS which is impossible on Pascal..
Everyone knows that Turing was a testing/early adopters gen for RT/DLSS etc
I personally purchased a 2070 Super in May as I needed a new PC (didn't have one previously) Knowing that Ampere was soon I went for what I knew would get me adequate frames till the release, I was half expecting to have to spend £800+ and am pleasantly surprised with the £650 price tag and the massive performance boost I'll get.
One thing i'm wondering is will there be an increase in performance when the new drivers are released on the 17th. So the current benchmarks are using only the current available drives on a 3080 or 3090. If i'm wrong and that's not the case and they are using the drivers that are'nt available yet then its a tad disappointing.
For me currently i have a 2060 so going to 3080 ill see a great performance increase. Just wondering if I should go for the 3090 but at over double the price it seems expensive to me although I have the money available.
You mean when the new drivers come out which start and decrease the performance of the 2080ti and earlier generations?
