Hey, can anyone help me out. I need some information regarding Nvidia and AMD performance when it comes to everyday applications such as 3DS Max, Zbrush and Photoshop.

I have searched for these types of benchmarks but have not found anything substantial, I understand this is in part due to the fact that their are professional cards designed specifically for these tasks.

I read briefly that the 6xx series did not perform very well in relation to the aforementioned software. Any information would be greatly appreciated as this is a huge consideration when deciding which card to buy.

P.S I cant afford the pro cards and like to game, this why Im going general card route.

thanks, K

Im sure photoshop uses cuda.

ANd yes the 6xx series has worst compute power than say 580.

But dont quote me on that as I only game.

Photoshop uses OpenGL so either AMD or Nvidia will do just fine. As for the other two... from what l remember 3ds max has some plug-ins that use CUDA. Seems like you need to do a little research :)

Maybe a 580/570? Might be better off going the CUDA route to be on the sade side, 3D software tends to support CUDA.

From what I gather Adobe is starting to port much more things over to OpenCL in the next year. Already CS6 for OS X uses OpenCL and not CUDA,so I expect the PC to follow suite. Already a number of filters are starting to use OpenCL AFAIK.
