'But, there you have it - While renaming the Crysis single-player demo executable fixes the image quality issues with all of NVIDIA's ForceWare 169.0x drivers, it also reduces performance by around 7% on average. It's worth noting that these issues are also experienced in-game, rather than simply in the game's timedemo mode, although due to the slower camera movement of the player walking around rather than the fly-by used when benchmarking, it is normally far less noticeable.

Oh dear, rumbled again. :p

(Just keep refreshing as sometimes link doesn't work).

Has anyone tried it themselves?

I just spent a few hours benching this game and found the 8800GT *just* comes out ahead of a HD 2900XT. If there is a driver hack then that would put the HD 2900XT ahead of the 8800GT I think.

standard driver optimisation.

my x1900xt runs bioshock, but if i want AA enabled i have to rename the bioshock.exe file to oblivion.exe then force AA, but just by renaming the file from bioshock.exe to oblivion.exe and running the game as it is there is a performance loss.

quite surprised you guys not know about this sort of stuff. can;t be just me thats in the 'know' around here :)

Of course we know about optimisations, this is about Nvidia cheating to boost performance by not rendering the game correctly.

Once you knock the cheating off, you lose over 7% performance, as it renders correctly, how it should be done.

I've just ran the benchmark again to see this and my reflections are fine, gunna get a screenshot.

EDIT:

There we go...

wondered y there was a ton of z-fighting on the boxes and some other things, time to start renaming stuff to crysis.exe and see if performance increases
