Nvidia Driver Query

Hi

Been using Nvidia Driver 185.84 for some time and it been ok. Lately seem to be getting a problem with it automatically throws the screen back to desktop when i am in game or watching a movie (full). Done this on quite a few games now. Really annoying in clan matches. Even once came up with a error. "Driver stuck in a infinite loop back" and crashed to a lower res.

Not sure if i am holding some weird button combination that causing this or if it's a driver issue (never had this problem ever) . So i update (clean) to 191.07 but still getting the same problem.

Wondering if anyone has come across similar problems like this. I am definitely not alt + tab by accident, or rather it is doing it on it own.

Just read on the nvidia forum and some people are experiencing this auto alt tab problem and like me they just updated their driver. Strange.

Newer drivers have been a bit problematic lately - tho 191.07 (on Win 7 64bit) have been good for me.

If your still having problems give 186.18 WHQL a whirl.

Oh the auto alt+tab problem is down to an anti-virus update - can't remember which package tho - apparently you can enable game mode or disable the AV entirely to stop it happening.

Mate, by any chance are you using AVG??

And have you just updated it from 8 to 9, without uninstalling 8 first??

If so, then that's your problem, I did this recently, and I kept wondering why I was getting booted back to my desktop when playing games or watching movies.

I uninstalled AVG and I haven't been bothered by it since then.

Ah it was AVG couldn't for the life of me remember the name of the program.

Checkthat none the heatsinks in your system are clogged with dust...
Then try with with all overclocks (CPU/memory/GPU) put back to stock speeds...

You hit the nail right on the head, forgot it about the same time that i installed avg 9. I did do a clean installation though, ie i uninstalled it +(clean reg) and then installed it fresh. Did u stick with avg or go to something else. I thinking this avg 9 buggy as hell, might switch to another AV as i can see a noticeable hit on my system.

Checked and your right there is a game mode but it enabled. Might be time to switched to another AV until AVG get their act together. If you ever look at their forums their so called help guys are hostile as anything although i understand they can get frustrated getting asked the same old questions.

On Win7, Avast free is supported. Not had any problems like this

I also have Comodo firewall installed, that gets annoying with all its "do you want to run this?" messages, but that can't really be avoided...
