I have been having problems with my TV out option on my 6600GT. After hours of messing and nothing but Black & White I found the problem to be the Drivers.

Did google and found that loads of people having the same problem.

Why have Nvidia got this problem, a multi million £ company with compertion hot on there heals we have problems with basic issues like TV out.

Forget the speed & Power thing how about getting the basic'c right.

I am real disapointed and am now scared to upgrade my driver due to the problem re-occuring.

change your drivers simple as, its not hard even my grandmother did it with no problems.

how about getting the basic'c right

like spelling.... i know i aint the greatest, its only a driver bug and you would be hard pushed to find drivers that are perfect for any company. if your scared to change your drivers... your not gonna get far with computers

/end rant

PS the drivers arnt poor just because they display b/w instead of colour i myself have no problems what so ever but thats me and maybe i have chosen and setup my drivers properly

You don't say what your problem was but as you were stuck with black and white I suppose you were using a s-video lead without telling the drivers to change the output.

If you think nvidia drivers are bad try ATI ones. The do not like custom widescreen TV resolutions at all

TV out is the most simple thing to do in nvidia & ati control panels. The blk & white issue is generally caused by using the wrong lead connector , ie svhs, composite etc etc. also if u have a poo tv, that dont help. Just think about it, and you cant go wrong.

i use svid > comp > scart added audio leads from sound card with 84.20 drivers no problems what so ever, i also use ultramon/powerstrip

Chane to signal to PAL, and lower the refesh rate output. Also change the output from RGB or shatever it is to coaxial.

Changing the setting from NTSC -> PAL should be enough as PAL is lower frequency than NTSC anyway. (50Hz vs 60Hz)

It should auto-detect S-Video vs Composite as well, but if not the options are there to change between the two.

black and white output = ntsc signal to a pal only tv.

There's the answer, not doggy drivers.

Always check for user error before blaming the computer. The black and white thing has been an known 'issue' for as long as there were TV outputs on cards.[/flame]

so when my multi-sync tv that does pal,pal-60 and ntsc is displaying in black and white with svideo, its my fault, not the drivers?

Nope, however I'm guessing that you would have the good sense to check all your settings/cables before you posted on here complaining about the drivers ;)

i'm sorry, i have to say it...someone who doesn't know their your from their you're has no business telling people about spelling.

Girls, Girls now now come on,

I do have very little experiance in this area but when I have read all the Nvidia help guids and set them up to how they tel me to do it and still no joy, it does make you think.

Also for the record if you go through the options it tels you what settings you need for what country.

The settings were not changed from what Nvidia instructed. Only thing that was changed was the driver as I got an older drive after reading other people resolved this buy changing the drive and using the older version.

As for the cables all provided with the card and to be honest my 6month old daugter could put them in the back got the G/Card.

Well at lease you guys got all your moaning out at me instead of offering some contructive resolutions (thats what I like to see).

Please carry on!!!

Some of us just have over active sarcasm glands my friend!

Apologies from myself! :)

In your OP it just sounded like you had an issue with a driver and didn't want to update it! Maybe give us more info next time, if you read your post you didn't actually ask a question you just vented frustration, probably in the presence of some Nvidia users!

I think we are getting a bit too used to fanboy rants about how crap a certain brand of card is when deep down we know that all cards/manufacturers are a bit crap considering how much these companies charge for their products!

Sounds like you did your homework! Hope it's sorted :)

I have to be fair I have no complaints about the overall performance of the card in fact im realy pleased with it.

You are correct maybe should have worded the 1st post better (not just the spelling).

Only problem was the TV Out. For some reason the newer drivers would not work in colour, older one does. I have googled it and looks like hundreds of people have same problem not with just the 6*** cards but also the newer ones.

Well just watched my 1st film from pc to TV and overall when it works it works well with good colour and a sharp picture.

I had the problem with tv out and the 6600gt as well. Black on white picture, Tv was ntsc and pal compatible. Used an s-video to scart adaptor and it was always in black and white. No user error there problem was down to the card.
