nvidia drivers?

hi

i have a 8800gts using vista 64bit

about 6 or 7 days ago i installed the latest drivers which were 158.18 and they were whql certified.

now ive been back on nvidia and now they have the same driver 158.18(whql),which says it was released on the 2nd may(yesterday)

is it newer ???

You must be mistaken as they have always been beta's those drivers, only went official WHQL yesterday, they could have more fixes etc... but who knows as someone on here said that beta's were the fully finished articles and having a WHQL makes no difference, they are still fully finished officials, but make of that what you will.:)

Imo though beta's are not finished, as if they were then why did they bugger Doom 3 up when i had the beta of that, when they released it you didnt have to type in the map names to load them, there was more than about 4 rooms, there was loads of sounds, and the enemies moved, beta version i had they were stuck on the spot till i got near them before they moved, and it ran like crap as it wasn't optimized fully, so why the hell they had to release that shoddy version i dont know, ruined a perfectly great game there, i just stuck with the fully finished beta, no way was i gona buy that shoddy thing they released. :(

I think Nvidia's tactics are to release them as beta first to gauge peoples oppinions of the drivers then when the majority start positing that there ok they release them as official. That way it covers there arse when things go **** up.

thanks for the replys , the 158.18 i downloaded about 5 days ago were whql certified so i dont understand why they say the same but released yesterday???? :confused:

Yeah its was 158.18 up to yeasterday when 158.26 came out. They have both been beta and are pretty much the same (best ones out).
 
Been running new 158.24's today, might go back to 158.18's though. BF2 doesn't seem to like new drivers :(
