Is there a problem atm with some nvidia drivers? I downloaded the latest 169.25 drivers from nvidia and they work fine, however windows aero theme appears to not be there any more, does anyone know which drivers to go for so that aero option is there?

No problems with drivers, no. There is something wrong with your system if you cant get aero. Totally remove then reinstall the drivers.

remove the drivers via uninstalling your graphics card in the device manager and tell vista to delete your drivers. Redownload and reinstall fresh copy of the WHQL drivers then run the windows experience test in control panel>system to let vista know your computer is capable of running aero and it unlocks the setting again.
