Nvidia drivers.

There's only been one official xp set for the 8800gts 512 since it was released, absolute p-poor tbh.

yeah thats appalling that, and they are crap, but with only being one set for them, your stuck with them, unless you try the leaked ones, so drivers being leaked does help. :)

I was getting bsod's even when changing desktop resolution using the beta drivers.

In fairness though, the 169.21's haven't been to bad, though it's still shocking on nv's part for not releasing any new ones for 4 months.

Thanks to LoadsaMoney I'm actually able to keep up to date with some better drivers, the officials suck bottom! I'm currently on 174.16 and they are a god send for Vista 64.

None of the unofficial ones have been stable for me.

You dont fix what dont need fixed, You seem to forget you got a new Beta Driver with every new high profile Demo and Full Game not so long ago.

And to the part about sticking with ATI, they have worst drivers, been that way since Detonators through to Forcewares esp for OpenGL (talking aside the period Nvidia got lazy after 8800GTX launch).
We shouldn't have to rely on betas, they often break something or are unstable.

I was complaining non-stop about Nvidia drivers last week. Resolutions disappearing and re-appearing in every beta, scaling issues galore, driver failing completely giving an error message with the 8800GT, shimmering is back, the list is pretty endless. Don't say "you should've stuck to officials" either, I tried them, but Nvidia in their infinite wisdom decided not to update them since December.

I put my money where my mouth was and bought a 3870 X2, and shock horror the drivers work perfectly fine without me having to download ridiculous leaked beta drivers from French websites, worrying what they broke this time. Can't call me biased either, I had 3 Nvidia cards in the last twelve months.

Sorry helmut, but you're way off the mark with this one. ATI drivers are miles better now.

Sure this build wait till next build and wait till you set some AA.

Why aint I getting BSOD and issue apart from in Buggy Cryis which latest beta seems to have sorted. ?

I seem to remember everyone moaning about ATI drivers (or lack of them) not so long ago, they released a new X2card so they have new drivers.

Nvidia will also do same when their X2 launches.

Is that right ?, where was the Bioshock and every other Demo/Full game drivers from ATI that Nvidia pumped out repeatably not so long ago.

I remember threads about the lack of ATI drivers.

Im happy for you but I wont be buying a ATI X2 or Nvidia X2 or even the 9800GTX as none are next Gen. :)

Once in a while ATI will leave new cards high-and-dry for a month with the ones on the CD, but not always though. The X2 has had drivers since January but didn't really get proper support until last month.

That's about it, otherwise they fully support everything every month. This month we've had a massive set of drivers adding Crossfire X, improvements for video playback and +15% in Crysis.

Doesn't matter to me what you buy, was just correcting you about Catalyst drivers. :p
