NVIDIA Forceware 190.38

The 186 beta I tried disabled full screen video playing properly, I complained to nvidia and by the wqhl release it was fixed, I'll install the latest in a mo and report back if any issues tomorrow.

Ive updated to new version and seem it worked fine with my 2 x XFX Nvidia GF9600GT XXX and enabled in SLI also it make my Fx 3.5 web browser run lots fast with background graphics and I checked my Big Fish Games which my favour are Hidden Object software - look nicely picture,etc.. and wee bit more speed but nice look on background that i look at - smooth, very colourful and qutie speed when open software games.

No problems at all... I just uninstall the older version then reboot then install new one then reboot that that it.

Best thing is you need go to Add/Remove and then select Nvidia Drivers then when the screen come up and then select choose software remove - I mean dont remove all of it, just the Display Driver and keep others for hardware like motherboard. and then once it uninstall then reboot and then install new version - then reboot and I used TuneUp 2009 (paid software) to clean up waste of disc space and bring some disc space back. and seem it worked fine for me. I havent problems when update new version every time when Nvidia release new software driver - worked prefect from 170.xx to new 190.xx

was going to give these a try but i might just wait until the next set, a little OT what's the best driver for windows 7 x64? i'm using the 186.18 drivers at the mo with no probs but if there are newer one's that give better performance i'll switch to them

186.18 seem to be the best on all platforms atm - and for me run 10% faster than the 190 beta and 10-40% faster than the 190 WHQL.

wow that was quick :D thanks Rroff  looks like i'll be sticking with the 186.18's for a while then, i normally only upgrade drivers if there's an issue or newer one's give big performance gains

Thanks for posting, can't say I've observed that anomaly, and I would know as my GTX280 is very loud when spinning up.

I've put in some (read too many!) hours in Fallout 3 and suffered one CTD yesterday with these drivers, but seems pretty stable beyond that, and I've always had issues with Fallout 3 crashing in the past, no drivers seem to completely eliminate that, it's not the most stable game.

I'll give these drivers a go when I get home, has anyone else experienced fewer Fallout 3 crashes? They're the bane of all my wasted spare time, the one game I could play every day and it's almost jokingly unstable

Well Fallout lasted 30 minutes before crashing...no joy on that front, performance wise the drivers seem ok though, plus there's no screwed up control panel options or any of the usual nvidia **** ups.

I've updated to this version and find that I can no longer overclock my GeForce 9800 GTX+ using RivaTuner

In RivaTuner I get a message saying that the drivers are not supported :(

Go to Power user, then expand the first setting on the list called 'Rivatuner \ System'.

Then scroll down to the option called 'ForceDriverVersion'. Click on the Hexidecimal Display button at the bottom then in the Value field enter '19038'. Restart rivatuner and the basic options (overclocking, fan control etc) should now work again.

Alternatively you can wait until rivatuner is updated again :p

hmm i disagree these 190.38 are great

with previous drivers when ever i exited a game on win7 the desktop would have switched to either aero basic or i would be greeted with a black screen and the old way i could get the desktop back was to press ctrl alt del

now with these drivers any game i play when i exit the desktop returns to aero with any probs

also games feel smoother but dunno if thats a placebo effect

my vantage scores are around 200 points less tho

I have never gone into the Power settings before in case I mess something up!

I did try it just now but can't work out how to alter the registry value as there is only 2 options - changing to 1 (yellow icon) and 0 (grey icon) - below:

I think I'll wait until RivaTuner is updated or a newer driver is released as it's not that important that I can no longer overclock my graphics card and certainly not worth risking screwing up my 9800 GTX+

Thanks anyway :)

I'm going to give these a try. Currently stuck on the 181.22 drivers as they're the latest version that work properly for me... pretty poor show from NVidia really???
