NVIDIA Forceware 190.38

Hard resets for me in Vantage, fallout 3 plus Empire, load of rubbish. Tried them on my Windows 7 and it failed exactly the same, rolled back and all OK

Well I have noted one thing about the new drivers, thought id post it up.

since updating drivers from the previous latest release, the fan speed no long drops down to almost silent, if you reboot the 9800gtx+ idles at 35%, then if you play a game for a short while, close the game and return to desktop, the fan stays at 58% - which isnt noisy but somewhat noisier than it was previously.;
My waterblocks still sound silent with these drivers ..:p :D

I'm still getting crashes in FO3 but I put that down to a mild instability in my system plus of course that annoying problem where it doesn't recover from taskswitch (pretty appalling in this day and age).

186.18 Seem very good to me.

185.xx are the only ones recently that have been truly terrible tho some earlier 180s had missing features.
the feture i really miss is full screen video option where you could have wmp goto full screen on my tv while being able to use the pc for other stuff, i can't remember what version they stopped having this option but i would like to see it return soon

Well Fallout lasted 30 minutes before crashing...no joy on that front, performance wise the drivers seem ok though, plus there's no screwed up control panel options or any of the usual nvidia **** ups.
i personaly think it's a problem with the game code, i'm so let down by fallout 3 i've stopped playing it until all the add-ons are out and the game works properly with mods, it was fine for me untill broken steel and then there was no end of problems with the game, it sucks because i love the game and have put in 100's (not far off 400 hours in total :o )of hours playing it on the 360 and moved to the pc because of mods which Bethesda broke with the 1.5 patch  but that was only mods as far as i know from what i remember the unmodded game works much better with 1.5 and i think there's a 1.6 patch out as well so you might find that will sort out the problems your having

the best place to find out about problems with the game is bethsoft forums not that i've looked for a while but i'm sure someone on there will beable to help out with any problems your having :D

b4 anyone mentions the fact I can adjust the fan speed via other means (I already know ta) ;)

Getting the same problem with the fan on my 9600GT and am going to revert to the older drivers as a result.

The GPU temp is only 52c and the fan is whirring away at 58% like yours. Normally silent on the desktop.

version 190 seem prefect for my 2 XFX GF9600GT XXX with SLi and it run so fast with my games from Big Fish Games (I usual like Hidden Object) and the temp seem much lower..

I've installed these drivers but now I can't overclock because Rivatuner says this driver isn't supported.

How is everyone else overclocking with the new drivers?

Installed ntune, now whenever I try to open any of the nVidia control panel settings my PC just bluesreens and shuts down. Not only can I not over clock I can't change a single setting on my card....

So it looks like I'm going to be forced back to the ancient 181.22 drivers yet again. Absolutely pathetic NVidia can't even write drivers for their own cards

Well so far they run a few Resi Evil 5 benchmarks and I've played Grid for over an hour. They also throttle the card back to minimum speeds straight away when in 2D Mode which none of the other drivers did except the 181.22's

So good so far with these drivers and the EVGA Precision :)
