Nvidia game profile issues

I'm using 158.18 on Vista 64.

When I change game settings in the control panel for a specific exe (for example, override AA and force vsync) the settings save and work, but when going back into the control panel, none of these settings are there anymore. Even stranger, if I go back into the game in question the settings still appear to be applied. Stranger still, no matter what I change the settings to now, they remain at the levels I originally set. In other words I now can't disable AA or vsync no matter what I set it to in the control panel (they are both OFF in the game settings).

Is there any way I can 'reset' this game profile?

common problem with Vista at the moment im afraid,

There are two things you can do.

Use nHancer and profile using that, or set the .xml files in system32 to full access on all users.

log in as admin and do a search for *.xml files. There are two, nvapps.xml and nvwsapps.xml in the windows\system32 directory. Go to security and change from there

Good to know it's a common problem, thanks.

As for what I think of the graphics card - well my 3DM06 score has doubled and I'm able to pile of all the AA and AF I want and still keep the same framerates and resolution. However as other threads have pointed out, CPU limited games combined with vsync turned on can stillhit the framerate sometimes.

It will come into its own with games Alan Wake and Crysis.
