Anyone have a Nvidia Geforce 210 Graphics card?

Wondering,Is there anyway to tweak the fan settings on the 210?..i see no option to in the "thermal" part of nvidia control panel (running Linux Mint)
..this card is LOUD...i think the fan its running at 100% all the time...it doesn't need to be on a card like this spec. :D

It may be worth stripping the card and repasting it, whilst also giving the fan and heatsink a defluff? I have never come across any fan speed controller for Linux yet :) all cards I have used in Linux have been very quiet, you could change the settings for max speed instead of max quality.

Hi,

Its brand new mate,Bought it Saturday..was expecting it to to be quiet but its like a bloody hoover,And runs around 37-40c which is hot imo for a card of that spec..it has plenty of airflow too.

It has a tiny fan - that's why it's so loud. Nothing you can do will change this.

Only way to do it is to lower the voltage of the fan. Is it 2 pin or 3 pin?

2 pin. :)

Consider grabbing a passive card and DSR your current one.
Well i bought it in a store,They had a passive HD5450 for £3 more but really the whole effort of taking it back explaining etc..id rather just see if i can slow the fan some.

Makes absolutely no sense why it runs at 100% all the time, and they don't give you any control over the fan speeds.

It's done to save money; the GF210 is probably the cheapest graphics card available. Earlier this year the company I work for bought several boxes full of them and paid less than £10 ex-VAT per card. At that level even if a speed-controlled fan adds 50p to the build cost, that's a big chunk of the profit margin gone.

Are you good with a soldering iron? you could splice a resistor in to slow the fan. Or you could splice the fan connector onto a molex and run it from the 5V from the PSU.

Does the card work without the fan connected? Don't do this for a long peroid of time - we just need to know if it has fan sensing or not.

I can solder,But don't have an iron nor do i really want to mess around with cutting wires etc..can i not buy a 2 pin cable with a Resistor built in as a "bridge" or something so i don't have to cut any wires?
