NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 GPU Box/specs

I average 66 FPS with my highly overclocked 5870 in the crysis bench, if the 480 at stock can smash 70 FPS, I'm selling up and buying one, not because I love crysis, but because that game is the true test of a GPU's power.

not spending all that money on a manufacturer i've never heard of before! There's a thread in here about some guys experience with Powercolour... others have commented only to say their experiences hasn't been all that great

You've totally missed the point in this thread.

It's to show that they're getting close to release if boxes are being finalised.

how long do you think we have to wait until after the release of their top card(s) before we see what low-midrange is released? as that's what I am more interested in - not the expensive power hungry beasts. I want something that is better than my 8800gtx but uses less power, on 40nm - with the possibility of going sli at a later date with ease (I have an sli mobo).

Why don't you just upgrade to a 5970 or 5870CF? That will most likely still blow fermi out of the water, and it seems like you don't care about power consumption or money.

I don't get why people are so fussed over power requirements, it's not as if it will significantly affect your electricity bills and nor will it have any effect on climate change, lol. Given the size of the GPU and the ongoing problems with the 40nm process, we should be glad nvidia are releasing it at all!

I'm just hoping it gives the 5870 a good kicking, will push things forward at least and hopefully bring prices down.

3 to 6 months minimum after March/April top end launch. Maybe as early as July or as late as Christmas.

Why do you want a low midrange one anyway?

Dunno about low-mid....but midrange sometimes have some real goodies like the 8800GT

How comes nobody has mentioned how obviously photoshopped that image is?

Very true. The 8800GT was a gem and especially at the price they launched it at. However, wasn't it just a "refresh" of a gpu which had been out for 2 to 3 years? Hope we don;t have to wait that long for a cracking low-mid range Fermi card ;)

The 8800GT was the G92b refresh of the G80 core - The 8800GT came out 10 months give or take after the 8800GTX release.
