To those who think it's dishonest that cards keep going to prebuilds:

Cards that are destined for prebuilds don't come with the retail box. They're delivered specifically for use in prebuild systems. Retail units are delivered as retail units. They essentially come in multipacks with "not to be sold separately" on them. I'm annoyed too, I placed my order within an hour of release, and i'm now position 8. There have only been 15 of my card through OCUK since then. I was position 30 when the queue updates started coming out, which shows how many people have cancelled.

I get it though. 2020 is messed up. In any other year, this may well have been enough stock to cover demand, but with everyone finding ways to entertain themselves staying home, PC upgrades are more sought after than ever.

Maybe the way it supposed to be and how they say it is but thats totally wrong as you get retail boxes with OC Prebuilds and no OEM stock available anyway.

With that and the way the amount of Retail stock expected always seems to be larger than what gets reported as actually arriving and then drops again in the dispatch amount.

Why do you think they are not willing to publish actual figures, even the board reps said more stock incoming has arrived than OC will admit to.

why would they let you know when they can just sit on your money indefinitely with no legal obligation to actually deliver anything until you come to the conclusion on your own that nothing is coming and cancel, having given them a 0% interest loan for six months?

Starting to feel that this is the sad truth, a member of OCUK 16 years but hey what does that mean in the grad scheme of things. Hate that updates have just become so terrible now it’s shocking.I don’t like the people that defend the “no update then there is nothing to say” a simple sorry no update today at least would stop people checking the thread 30 times a day in hope of something. But instead we get silence which is actually more damaging as people come to their on conclusion which sadly I feel will be worse in the long run for OCUK.

If it's going to be 6 months I'll happily wait that long, ultimately not having a new graphics card isn't going to significantly affect my quality of life, but I don't know why they can't just keep us updated on what's going on. It seems like sinister ulterior motives are at play here honestly.

I keep seeing this rumour that retail stock is being sidled off for PC builds as there's more money there. Have you ever priced up a pre-built using the individual components? It's usually about a 5 - 10% markup, which isn't too bad considering the time involved. SI stock would normally be cheaper than retail stock, hence the extra profits on it. It doesn't make sense to use retail stock as SI stock.

Selling these as part of a prebuild is still much more profitable. Instead of making money on just a card, now they can make money on multiple components. They might only markup 10% for the build but each component will be 30%+ profit on top. So the guy earlier who spent £2700 on his new machine, could maybe build it himself for £2400. The cost to OC may be £1700 at most, so that's £1000 profit, rather than the £75 they would get if they sold it to the queue. Margin on RRP asus TUF isn't much, that's why they are doing this.

It most certainly makes sense.

I know a lot of people do not want to here the honest truth. But the only real truth in this whole situation is that unless you are in desperate need of a card, IE dont have a 9,10 or 20 series card most people should really cancel their orders and in all honestly stop using OC at all. I fully understand the stocking issue really is down to Nvidia (Most companies dont have cards) but I personally believe that the way that OC has handled this entire situation shows so much about their business model. OC have willingly continued to take peoples money (Until very recently) and have provided the worst customer service experience to date. In a lot of cases the silence makes it feel like robbery more than anything else! As people have pointed out other sites have clearly had more stock and have a clear structure in place to provide updates. I personally feel bad for the people on the front lines having to take all the flack that will be given to them whilst the people who actually make these decisions will only care when their profits take a massive hit, which whilst everyone has handed over what accounts to millions at this point they will not care. Speaking with your wallet is actually the only real way!
Hahaha you're joking right? You just want people to cancel so you go up the queue! I see your gambit Mr New Registration Man. :p

Honestly I don't have time to sit and watch Notification Discords or whatever and paying to be in a queue is better than not. I may not even get my card this side of the year (I'm ~70 in Palit OC) however if I don't join a queue now the chance basically drops to zero right even if I do start spending time watching nonfictions?

Totally understand the frustration and a better page like what other competitors have should be added as this is now spanning months rather than weeks and doesn't look like it's going to improve. As multiple users have stated with the amount of sales having a regular update would be appreciated.

Same... been shopping at ocuk for nearly 2 decades, but not anymore. Thing is, a competitor has no updates today (they do them daily, sometimes 3 times a day). So instead, they've listed out every model, the current preorder numbers for each model and then what models they are expected in each delivery and the delivery ETA. Whereas OC seem to have just hidden hoping it will go away.

AIB =/= Distributor

OC UK will have specific distributors that issue their stock, these don't have to be AIBs it can be a third party that obtains the stock from the AIBs.

In these situations what will then happen is that said distributor will allocate stock to OC UK either direct for retail or specifically for SI.

The retail card in question is a gigabyte. So now Gigabyte are selling retail cards through distribution to OC, not direct? And they are selling retail cards as SI/OEM? Blimey O'Reilly.

A main competitor has de-listed the Asus TUF non-OC from their updated stock table.

I thought that was correct, but they list Dual, Dual OC, TUF Gaming OC, Strix and Strix OC for the 3070. Under 3080, the TUF Gaming is still listed as a separate category. It's a pretty sad state of affairs when we have to look at competitors to try and figure out what is going on.

Incorrect.

If you check PC Specialist who are the main company in the UK for doing pre-builds, they charge around 25-40% premium which is outrageous in my opinion.

Just put my cancel form in, have an order for a gaming x trio with someone else which if im being honest isnt going much better its been 16 days with them and no word, I only ordered the trio after I came to my senses a little and didnt want to spend 90 quid on a master. As time has gone by the want for spending so much on a gpu is dwindling, the delay of cyberpunk somewhat is keeping the fire alive.

You do realise that OC UK could be getting two streams of stock from their distributors for the relevant SKUs with one specifically ordered for SI? Just because traditionally SI stock was only ordered as OEM stock doesn't apply in this case due to the shortages being faced...

Oh the naivety and it has been here for weeks...

Let me tell you how it goes:

OCUK: Hello Mr. Distributor. We have thousands pre-orders for 3080 GPU. Can we have some please?
Distributor: Sure you can, but we already send hundreds to your competitor, so we will send you 50 cards.
OCUK: Sounds rather splendid, thank you, at this rate we will have a nice cash buffer to offset our business loans for years.
OCUK: Oh before I forget. Can we also have some SI cards as well for new systems, they're selling them like hotcakes with Covid, 3080 shortages and such.
Distributor: Of course you can, but only because you are our favourite client you know, same as Nvidia's.
Distributor: I just need to amend your initial order slightly, so we will send you 25 cards for SI and 25 cards for retail, you can always amend the allocations as we will send them on one pallet and they all look identical.
