Nvidia GT200 sucessor tapes out

That review stinks just as much as the last one that bloke did. Is he just really upset at not being invited with the other journalists? Does he ever have a good thing to say?

While I like my hardware gossip sites as much as the next gamer, my eyes rapidly glazed over on this one. Even accepting journalistic opinion, this article is particularly dripping with bile and it made me lose interest almost immediately, since you can't hope to find much truth from someone who so obviously has a reason to dislike the company.

I couldn't give a monkies, I'll just wait until they're released, look at some benchmarks and decide whether they'll yield and judtify their price over my 2x8800GT's, if not, I'll wait, if they look aweome I may well buy.

The buildup to these new cards is ridiculous now, with all sorts being thrown all over the net, with 90% of all the "gossip" probablya load of rubbish...

If ATI is released 18th June, when is the actual realease date of the G200?

Cheers
Pug

This is prime time for Intel.

If they released a technology that delivered equivilent GPU functionality they could deliver it at a far lower price - absolutely caning nVidia and AMD in one go (including the GPGPU markets too).

Is it time to mention nVidia are about to launch their CPU line too in the same timeframe of a few releases.. something on inq over the last week (as per any inq/fud - take with salt).

Sounds like nVidia are back to their old tricks.. release loads of crappy increments (as this will be) with just a shrunken die giving MHz speed benefits..

the inquirer is not a good source of information and is horribly biased

They may be biased, but, short of totally making the whole of that article up, them being biased wouldn't really change the "tone" of the article. If it's true, basically NV have no choice other than to charge high prices to make a profit. Personally, I think the article was a good read and I could see it being true. The heat this card must put out at 230w (or so) TDP. Though, I don't particularly like NV, I wouldn't want to see them go out of business, any competition is good competition.

Please note people, this is the first post Loadsa has made about this. Any one fancy making a table, or chart with relevant quotes to note how many times he will regurgitate this? Maybe add a time line showing how close we are to release etc etc.

I ony posted it in this thread, as this same story has been posted before in the other GTX thread, so you could start a chart on how many times the same stories are going to get regurgitated in diffeernt threads. :D

Anyway deleted it now as i already posted in the other thread that has this story. :p

I posted this yesterday in the GT200 threat. This amazingly bad and bias article does not need or deserve a whole thread!!

I cant believe Charlie Demerjian of the INQ gets payed for this rectum dribble. PAYED for it....

...PAYED.

If you're gonna emphasise it, at least spell it 'paid'. :p

I personally don't trust either fudzilla or the Inq as far as I can throw them (and being websites are intangible, that makes throwing them anywhere very, very difficult). They're useful for one thing and one thing only, a quick laugh. Frankly taking any of these stories as 'news' should be grounds to have one's head examined since they're both clearly quite biased.

Regardless of salty news, ATIs shown it can definatly roll out good cards at good prices:) Something Nvidia tend to struggle on early on but then later sort out.

Anyhow will find out in about 2 weeks time :)

This forum is so full of Fudzilla and INQUIRER quotes its geting boring.

Not half as boring as people entering a thread merely to type "I am like... sooo bored with this". Ignore it, press back, move on. ;)

The article is intereting no matter what the bias, it warrants some light-hearted discussion.

Agreed we need something to moan about and fight over :p

Ach only the fanboys will get annoyed. Any enthusiast will see this as a great opportunity for ATI to get back in the game after R600's Anti Aliasing capabilities showed it up as poor competition for the high end GPU section last year.

I just think ATI have been in the shadows a little bit and need to invite themselves into the battle as a competitor once again. What I'm really hoping for is that ATI do well this round and DX10.1 starts to get introduced as ATI gain strength. Here's to hoping :).

I normally go from nvidia to ati and back again and so on,now it is ati turn if their drivers sucki will say so.
I did have 3 nvidia g-force cards once in a row  gf1 16meg(brought it instead of the 32meg  as i thought it was the 32meg card) and the 32meg then gf3ti200 then had 9800pro and x800xl,not sure how i missed the 9700pro though.

So thats technically two? :p

Whilst obviously biased, I have no trouble believe a lot of this could be true.

The biggest enemy of any manufacturer is complacency. We've seen it time and time again with the likes of Intel, AMD, NVidia, ATI & 3Dfx. One company holds the lead for so long that they start to believe their own hype and start resting on their laurels a bit. A competitor then appears with a stonking product which takes them by surprise and all of a sudden they've got a major fight on their hands and are playing catch up.

I think NVidia could well be caught napping again later this year, in a repeat of what happened when ATI launched the 9700.

Charlie's just bitter 'cause NV banned him from press conferences (presumably for breaking a NDA).

Complete muppet with zero facts, lol.
