Nvidia GTX280/260 and 9800GTX/+ 177.39 Beta Driver with PhysX-Support

I cheated and just put G92 8 series as it was quicker than putting what you posted :p

slightly abbreviated for the win :D.

But why would they just do it for the G92? All the 8 series supports CUDA and function basically the same. The only main difference is the small chips for the G92 (65nm) compared to the G80 (90nm).

Well did Nvidia not buy Ageia after the release of the G80?. If so then they may have started their work on the G92, G94 (if it exists) and GT200 for this. I don't know much about if the G80 is capable of doing the same work. I hope it can be as I'd like to see it for myself. It would be a great Brucie bonus if so :D.

“I'm sure it was about double of the FPS with Physics enabled compared to the old driver.”
I think that benchmark was a little misleading. It’s only double on the high physics maps. The normal maps shouldn’t get more than 5fps. Perhaps 10fps if your really CPU limited.

It’s a shame the normal UT maps where not benchmark as the high Physics maps are rubbish. Lets hope someone does a Geforce V PPU benchmark that will be interesting.

Going by Nvidia's website, the following will be supported (note clicking on any of the 8 series leads you to the 8 series main page including the 8800GTS 640mb, 320mb and 512mb):

To be honest i would be extremely surprised if it didn't happen because Nvidia did say that it Physx would be on all cards from the 8 series and up.

Ahh, I didn't know that. Cheers Pottsey :).

That would be interesting indeed. The GeForce vs PPU.

What do you think about Havok and AMD jumping into bed together?. You seem to have a great grasp on gaming and physics so I'm interested in what your thoughts are on this matter.

WooHoo Nymins. It's looking good.

As soon as this is out I'll have to install UT3 again and have a bash.

Yea i hope they start to utilise it more and make some decent games for it.

As do I but I'll probably be on 4870 X2 by then lol. I'll just have to wait and see what AMD and Havok get up to together.

I think Nvidia/Ageia and AMD/Havok is going to make things awkward for developers but I have faith in both companies to make it work somehow  :D.

Has anyone tried any Physx games like Cellfactor or the Car Wash tech demo to see if it really works?

The Car Wash demo is really small and will tell you instantly if the Physx is enabled. If its not, then it goes into software mode and doesn't have fluid physics.

The car wash demo runs fine, just tried it.

Just tried Mass Effect as well and its a lot more smoother (whether drivers or physx related), i thought it was smooth before too.

Gonna give UT3 a whirl.

I never saw it before so i dont really know, just a big splash of silver water drops over the car, was this the right one, 7.2mb?

Should be. You can change the liquid to lava and stuff. If you dont have a physx card/GPU then its just the car in the room and you can only throw balls at it. ;)
