hi, sorry if this is something thats been well documented before.
do Nvidia have an equivilant to AMDs Eyefinity? if so, how does it work as AMD use display port, so do you need an Nvidia card with something similar?
also, is it possible to just use 2 monitors in a grouped setup?

I know the 590 can utilize 3 monitors, which has 3 dvi ports on it. So I assume Nvidias system just use DVI ports for multi monitor setups...

oh right, i have 2 dvi and 1 hdmi, so would that work?

also, i seem to remember reading somewhere rather than extended desktop, you can use something called 'grouping' which makes it use multiple monitors as though they were 1. would this work with just 2 monitors?

I think thats how it works, ive seen 3 1920 x 1080 monitors playing bad company 2, It just gives a wider view radius and doesnt stretch the image.

you can have upto 4 screens attached with sli but having 4 means u have to select "activate all displays" which disables sli (handy for film watching on the 4th screen). with 3 connected you can select the "span" option which enables sli and triple screen gaming. as far as i'm aware you can't span with 2 screens although you can use dual monitors in games that allow it, like supcom etc

ok, that sucks :(

Wish Nvidia would get their act together with this. Their argument is that you can't game off of a single 580 at triple monitor resolution, so there's no point in supporting three on a single card. Totally useless if you just want to run a third screen for desktop use though.

I love the green team, but it's really annoying having to run a second little card for the third screen. Just adds heat, takes up space, and looks pants in the case.

hopefully the 28nm cards will sort this. I mean, atleast the 590 can do it - right?

so in conclusion, i can run 2 monitors in grouped mode, but it probably wouldnt work in games?
also, when people say they use a gfx card for a monitor and OBV for another, how does that work? which drivers does it use or does it use both? does that mean i can game on my monitor (connected to GTX460) and play a movie on the TV (connected to OBV)?
