Hi

Coming off a GTX 970 and wanting to stick with team green, what's the best bang for buck and warranty I can do today for £400? Read prices had come down in general so feels like a decent time to finally upgrade. Have an 800w PSU so that should be fine. :)

Is the Ti variant a false economy in performance terms? Much in it?

Despite the lower memory capacity it is a fairly large bump in performance, for a long time the 3060 Ti FE was a great 'value' card, but not I'm sure if you can still buy them and prices have dropped a lot since then. I'd judge the prices based on the RX 6600 @ £250ish and RX 6700 @ £330, even though you don't want one, so that you don't pay way over the odds (e.g. £500 for a 3060 = a no from me).

Is this the one you refer to: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/powe...ddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-1al-pc.html

Is that trading blows with a 3060Ti? The 3060 can be had at £399 and below right now.

As far as I know, it is generally faster than a 3060, but a bit slower than the 3060 Ti (ray tracing excluded), but depends on the game and settings. There's a review thread in the graphics card forum.

Warranty wise this has 5 years, https://www.overclockers.co.uk/zota...ddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-12g-zt.html
If you have been managing reasonably well with a 970 until now and intend to keep your next card just as long then the above card is a reasonable buy for the length of warranty and a big increase in performance, https://youtu.be/ZnhFA-r_YvA?t=529 (although focused on the 1060 the video includes benchmarks for 970, and 3060)
As above the 6700 and 3060ti will get you more fps in raster performance. The 3060ti is also better at ray tracing

Can't find FE's unless you live on Discord and Telegram. Been down that road when I got a PS5 and don't fancy going there again.

More like the 3060 is false economy it's similar to the 1050 - 1050ti where the ti was clearly the better card. Also check out the ocuk clearance section loads of different cards in there ignore the stated price make them a reasonable offer in CS forum you might get a bargain. 3060ti going for less than £300 on MM so if you can get a 3060ti for new decent price that's the one to go for at your price bracket. Doubt we will see a 4060ti till 2023.

If you are prepared to jump teams, the Radeon 6700 @£329-£349 is your best bet.

If you are dogmatic about Team Green, probably wait a little while longer 3-6 weeks and see if 3060ti options come down in price. I think they are all above MSRP at the moment

@Shampoo before deciding team green vs red ask yourself if Ray Tracing is of any interest at all. If it is stick with the Nvidia and try to get a 3070, even if it means saving a little more.

AMD are great rasterization cards, but do fall behind somewhat when it comes to ray tracing.

If I give it another fortnight I can get a 3070. is the jump significant enough on a 3060Ti? Do you think they'll still be new stock then? Not watching the scene enough recently to know if we're in firesale territory yet.

The difference from the 3060ti to the 3070 as found by Gamers Nexus, https://youtu.be/t9H2PfYDFok?t=1747
This 3060ti has a 5 year warranty if that is important to you, https://www.overclockers.co.uk/zota...ddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-131-zt.html

If you are going to keep the gpu for the 5 years warranty, just as you have kept your 970 for several years, IMO it makes sense to get the 3060ti over the 3060 as the difference works out at about £90 which divided by 5 means an extra cost of £18 over each of the 5 years, but you will get a bit more future proofing out of the 3060ti, unless you only play games which aren't demanding and can achieve good frame rates out of a 3060.

Hmmm, not expecting to get another card that still just about does a job at 1440p like the 970 did, but 4-5 years would be nice for the follow-up. :) 3060Ti or 3070 will be the target. I'll scrape up to 3070 money in the next fortnight then see what's available. If prices are still too high between both I'll go 3060Ti as 11 to 15% increase that might be closed by clocking isn't worth too much a premium. Thanks for that comparison link and linking a card with good warranty. Bookmarked it!

Review of the card, the default settings for the fans seem to be aggressive and it appears to be worth using the Zotac software to tune the fans, which appears easy to do. I have the same on an MSI card. It is the loudest card I have ever heard at default settings but by tuning the fan it became very quite. https://youtu.be/5ue9ochqp3g?t=658
The FE is nicer though if it comes back in stock, only downside is it has shorter warranty

Just wait a couple of months and pick up a used card in the inevitable fire sale when rtx 4000 is announced, you'll probably be able to get a 3080/ti for your £400.
