I was just wondering which is better Nvidia or AMD. I know both card manufacturers have a massive range of cards with a lot of cards being very similar in spec and price.

I've heard for example the Nvidia graphics cards run at lower temperatures and are more reliable than the AMD cards.

Specifications aside which is better of the two brands?

Yeah but most people feel Intel is superior to AMD in processors (for gaming), is there not a similar feeling towards the graphics card front with Nvidia and AMD?

Both have their positives and negatives, though personally id say that nv cards that ive used have ran a bit hotter than their amd counterparts. Of course youll get dyed in the wool fans of either brand who will defend their chosen camp no matter what. With any of the two you pay your money and take the chance as far as reliability go's. Same as any component be it a cpu, ram, hdd etc.

Depends how much you want to spend and your priorities (performance, noise, energy efficiency, size etc). There can be slight advantages/diadvantages for either brand, but overall they are pretty much equal within respective segments.

How much do you want to spend and what are your main priorities?

Given that all they all have cards that perform at similar levels it comes down to how much you can afford. Speaking generally for the past 3 years or so AMD have have had the best value mid range cards but at the top end it's a lot more competitive and comes down to how much a particular card is on the day. Other then that there's nothing really to separate them.

I'm gonna take the bait and say at the moment Nvidia are better. My reasoning is they seem to offer the more complete/polished package with a viable 3d gaming system (which might not be your cup of tea but is important considering its the latest fad), more big titles seem to bias towards nvidia rather than amd and finally I own a giant bif green nvidia case :D

If the 3D kit came with the cards as standard then yes, but they don't.

No such thing as better when it comes to graphics cards companies. Both have some big pro's and con's compared to the other.
