QUOTED :

" A new driver enabling PhysX for a bunch of Nvidia GeForce cards has now been leaked online. The 8.07.18 version has been sourced by Expreview and it features support for the GeForce 9800 GTX and GTX+, the GTX 260, GTX 280 and 9500 GT graphics cards. "

Hmm what about the G80. ?

I know this is not offically on the Nvidia site and the 5th Aug was not an offical Nvidia statement.

EDIT : Read this over on Guru3D : " today we get the big release, at least thats whut was said, just wait, its like 7am in USA

you have to install 177.79 driver and nvidia physx driver, 8.06.12 actually, (altho this one i think that will be updated today, so it includes compability w every gfx card) "

I can enable it on my G80 8800GTS, but the demos are no different and dont run any better. Dont think any of the games work with it yet either. Gonna wait until NV officially release it today.

I wouldn't bother with crappy, bugged leaked beta's, besides the officials are supposedly getting released by Nvidia themselves today, yes i kid you not, you are not seeing things, im not ******, or on drugs, i did say Nvidia are actually going to release a driver!!!

:p

Thanks for the heads up.

I will try it now see what happens.

EDIT= Well the physx Car wash demo dont work(only in software mode).
So far not good

Carwash didn't work for me either, but i tried Warmonger with and without the new physx software and the FPS difference was huge. With it disabled it was unplayable at full settings, with it enabled it is very smooth.

i will dowmload it now and try it with Fraps and see.

OMG in Warmonger with the physx off and playing off line The Approach
I only got 5-10 FPS. With physx on I got 50-70 fps with avg of 60fps.

I love it :)

Lets see what Mass effect can do with physx on ;)

There's me thinking of jumping back to ATI then this happens . **** you Nvidia :(.

I'll give this a bash later on tonight but it's just a gimmick to me for now with the games I play as I wouldn't see the benefit.

I'm stuck here. The 4870 on it's own would be an improvement but not so great, the GTX 280 is a bit dearer but won't need as much power as the X2 4870 and will be cheaper and both the GTX 280 and X2 4870 would handle 2048x1536 easily. Now I may have Physx to think about if I enjoy the performances it gives.

I'll tell you what, Nvidia may have messed up completely at the birth of the retail GTX 280 regarding pricing but since ATI have been applying pressure they have became far more attractive, and now this Physx thing over all cards G80 and newer :).

Well give it a month and there will be 55nm 280 cards :)

I hate consoles but I see why many use them now :D.

I wait until 55nm then how long will "lil dragon" be?. Aaaarrrggghhh (fistfuls of hair in hand now and my head bleeding) :).

Well lil dragon is purely rumors now but there is not a chance that they will arrive before christmas at all :)

And consoles are terrible, might be cheaper etc but PCs have far surpassed both the power of Xbox 360 and PS3, combined even, by now :) They're still at 65nm parts too, so power consumption is crazy for a machine like that. My brother's Xbox makes a lot more noise than my computer too.

The real news in the next couple of weeks will be the 4870x2 and the 55nm GT200 chips, the only real thing that could happen between then and christmas will be a midend Nvidia part.
