Nvidia Project Shield Announced

Good luck playing a FPS game using a controller against players with kb and mouse ;)

Yeah... BF3 on this with slow incinerate controls

It would be like a BF3 SQDM; PC gamers vs xBox, the match would be over in seconds with PC Gamers scoring 94 to 6

Can't say that I can see where this would fit in.

I must admit, i'm struggling to see the point of it.

Why would I want to stream a game from my PC, to a TV?
If I wanted to play games on a TV I wouldn't have bought a monitor.

Kids could play games in their bedrooms I suppose?

I can see the appeal, laid in bed playing Assassins Creed or what not streamed.

But then they limit it by your PC GPU >.<.
Wouldn't mind lying in my bed playing Fable 3 or whatnot.

The PPI advantage over my 23" monitor to me would be quite an advantage, I'd like it, shame I won't get an Nvidia GPU.

Wow this will disappear, what a waste of time. They must have thought oh god, we've missed out on the next generation console contracts, what can we possibly do?! :p

Sigh ... when will these people realise that the true attraction to PC gaming is the traditional, monitor with KB and mouse? Nothing comes close to it in terms of responsiveness, engagement and immersiveness.

If you want to play in a casual or relaxed manner, get a console. If you want to play mobile, get a PSP/DS/smartphone, etc.

Here's a nice demo vid. Pointless, but I wouldn't say no a free one :D

lol, was this posted from 2001? I've got bags of games on steam/PC that require a controller, sofa and big TV. :) It's an accessory to sell large GPUs ;)

Shame they didn't do a fully featured boxset (console, google TV, AppleTV style receiver, HTPC etc) over a controller. I guess that would've stepped on Ouya's toes somewhat.

Thinking about it more it makes less sense. Most PC games do not work without a keyboard and mouse. Plus the PC games that do work on a controller still require you to have your PC on but not use the PC. If your PC is on most of the time why not just use the PC? So we end up with the small number of people who want to play a PC game that works well with a controller, has PC turned on but is not on the PC and has to have the right graphics card installed?

That leaves android games but most of those are not designed to be used with a controller.

In that video, they say the PC version does have internet browsing, so I would assume it is like a PSP but not sure on how that will work with games.

I would be interested if I can play my steam games anywhere (not just in my house). Would I need to buy these games again would also be a decision maker.

To all you people saying, its pointless just buy a console, erm hello this is a console. It's a handheld console that can use anything that runs on android and the games that you have on your pc. its competition isn't the xbox360 or the ps3 but the plethora of android tablets and the Nintendo handhelds and Playstation Vita.

thats my opinion anyway.

^ Actually this is Nvidia's answer to Apple Airplay for your gaming PC. The controller is just a rather obscure way to promote Nvidia GRID (both via your personal gaming PC and cloud racks)

A 'box' like AppleTV would've been much more suitable, hopefully Ouya can run GRID properly without this controller.

That was the only one connected to wifi.

That's coming next, no you won't need to buy any games again. :D
