" The Green Graphics Goblin of Santa Clara, Nvidia, has now delivered a new PhysX software version (8.09.04). Coming for the 32 and 64bit versions of Windows XP and Vista, the WHQL-certified PhysX 8.09.04 software supports Ageia PhysX cards and GeForce 8, 9 and GTX 200 series graphics cards that have at least 256MB of onboard memory. This release supports the 2.8.1, 2.8.0, 2.7.4, 2.7.3, 2.7.2, 2.7.1, 2.7.0, 2.6.x, 2.5.x, 2.4.x and 2.3.x PhysX runtime engines. "

So is this good even if you only have one graphics card?

Say a game i had used good graphics and physics... would this help?

Or do you need an sli set-up, one for graphics and one for physics?

It's fully supported in Unreal Tournament III (get the physX mod pack). You should also notice a huge increase in performance. My GTX280XXX destroyed a 4870x2 in UT3 with PhysX enabled.

Warmonger is a free download from NVidia thats not bad at all for a free game which shows off PhysX capabilities.

For a little more info take a look at a review I did recently on the GTX280 and PhysX in general: Here

I couldn't get the previous one to work on an 8800GT, I followed the instructions to the letter, got to the start screen in UT3 and always crashed. I vowed never to try it again & now I'm tempted. Anybody failed before & had success with this version ?

so... i have the 8800gts 512... does this mean that i can now use the physx in ut3 with just this single card? or do i have to have one dedicated gpu for graphics and then another graphics card to be the physx card?

if i need one for each thats a bummer as i have an x38, not sli mobo.... could it still work on this board if it doesnt need to be sli'd together? or if i get a 4870 could i keep my gts as a physx card and both work on the mobo?

sorry if thats confusing :p

Just installed the drivers, and played UT3 with no issues. :)

I've got an 8800GTS running in my server, If I take it out of my server can I put that in alongside a 4870X2 and benefit from Physx in my gaming rig?

Yes the single 8800GTS can run the normal game gfx AND physx and in enabled games like UT3, so u should see a boost. And as you have a second slot on your x38 you could use another 8*** gfx card to solely perform physx tasks - it is not used in the same way as an sli/xfire config would be.

If they were both nvidia cards then yes, but i believe u cant have ATI and nvidia drivers on the same machine as they dont get on.

If one bought a new Nforce 8200 motherboard (or some other new one), is there an option for using the 8200 IGP for physx and the GPU for 3D?
