Assuming that the 5080 offers broadly the same performance as the 4090 in most use cases.
Exactly. I'm not assuming that, but we will see

You aren't counting for the extra VRAM of the 4090...If 5080 is £1k new, for a 4090 to be worth £1.2k pound per pound, you'd be wanting a 20% performance jump over the 5080, I guess.
The 4090 outperforms the 4080 by about 35%.... I can't see the 5080 only being a piddly 15% improvement over the 4080 tbh.
That's not even counting the risk of the fire-prone connector / a 'coil whiny but no return' card. Just seems like it would be bad value at £1.2k.... but clearly at least someone is buying them for a high price at the mo. It definitely isn't me - but I might buy an Asus Astral, which might make me a chump in the eyes of someone *shrug*
Yup we'll see, but all the information we got (specs, process nodes, review embargo date etc.) it's easy to infer that the 5080 won't be as good as the 4090 unless Nvidia pulls something else out the bagWe'll see what reviews say of course, but the 3080 was faster than the 2080ti, and the 4080 was quite a lot faster than the 3090ti (in fact the 3090ti was equalled by the 4070ti in raster).
If the 5080 doesn't at least equal the 4090, i think it will do badly on reviews.

Lets say the 5080 has 2 variants, the 16GB version and a 24GB version.. naturally the 24GB version would cost more... look at the 4090 as a beefed up 5080.. hence why people believe the 4090 will still be worth more than the 5080 and rightly so
Judging from the rumored prices earlier in the thread.. We're going to see 3 grand Asus Astral 5090 aren't we?
I can't justify that when I'm going to strip the cooler to watercool it.. But then what other options are there other than ASUS that will have blocks day 1 and a (decent in UK) customer service if need to RMA?
You have to offset that with 2 year old generation and no warranty though.
If they're equal performance the 4090 has more ram and the 5080 is newer and has warranty. On a par value wise I would say therefore.
I have three question
whats likely the cheapest RTX 5080 graphic card will be on your store?
what the smallest size (I have a old Factual Design R2 Case, I think they should fit, but just want to know)
Finally, I live in nantwich, not too far from OCUK HQ, do you have pick up at the store option.
cheers

Embrace the chaosRoll on the prices get ready to wipe them tears ...
The windforce are a 'budget' option and for 99% of people they are fine. I haven;t owned one in years. They always use to be my go to about 10 years ago. But nowadays I don;t touch them as i feel their build quality is generally bad, the fan noise is horrible. And their have a customer service reputation like Asus has.Looks like the Windforce may be the cheapest AIB (going by nothing but my own opinion and the fact it looks the most basic).
Have the Windforces been any good? Never owned one.
My past 3 cards have been windforce / gigabyte as those were the ones available at launch, not a single issue experienced imoLooks like the Windforce may be the cheapest AIB (going by nothing but my own opinion and the fact it looks the most basic).
