NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - OFFICIAL PRE-ORDER THREAD!

Nice troll

Any word on what sort of availability OCUK are going to have for 5080's?
It isn't a troll.. im guessing you dont meet the post threshold or been a member for long enough to see the post.

How did you see this? I can view it, but not sure where you saw the link, can't see it in the main forum
If you go to the graphics card forum and then above it says "Graphics Cards - Forum member deal"

As it appears it requires a threshold to view i wont be posting a screenshot just in case thats against terms.

A quote regarding stock for those that cant see:

"stock for this launch will be mega tight for weeks, potentially months"

Lame, how much you talking? Got a screenshot?
It's not a discount, just a way for long-time members to hopefully have an easier time getting 5080s by avoiding bots/scalpers. We pay as much as everyone else

It's only a hypothetical thing right now and might not even happen.

Ahhh right... not good for me, I guess I better get my details saved for other retailers!

No one is going to have problems selling out, the "I'm going to other retailers" sadly won't work :D
Obviously not what I meant.

Didn't think it would be THAT difficult to get a 5080, if theres a super secret preorder styled voucher scheme for members then chances of getting one on OCUK seem even slimmer for us that don't use the forum.

It's not a troll, I can see it just fine. You need a certain post count to be able to see it, it's a voucher scheme for forum members basically.
I've been following the forum for a few months, but never bothered creating an account. Created one now and, indeed, I can't see this page. Need to start posting more now to get the permissions haha

Is it just the 5080 in the post that’s mentioned to be tight stock or is the 5090 usually even less stock as well? My first time trying to buy a GPU off release.

It depends, particularly on the perceived value of the cards. Release day is always going to be tight for both the --80 and the --90 cards.

With the 3000-series launch, when we were at peak-scalping, both were very difficult to get for a long time after launch day, but 3090s were generally easier to get than 3080s. The 3080 was seen as very good value.

With the 4000-series, the 4080 wasn't all that hard to get fairly soon after launch day, as it was seen as a particularly poor value card. The 4090 was trickier, as for once it was the better bang-for-buck card and it's had periodic shortages (particularly if you want it at or near RRP) throughout its life-cycle.

Hard to say where it'll land this time. The 5080 is still an expensive card with only 16GB of VRAM, but it's cheaper than the 4080 was, particularly when you adjust for inflation. The 5090 looks very powerful, but the price is a decent jump up on the 4090.

Yes that’s my thoughts as well as I’m hoping to go for a 5090 and was wondering if due to the price there would be less desire and people priced out. I’m in the process of ordering parts now for the rest of the PC so I do really hope I can get one on release day so I’m not waiting too long.

Do you know how long it took last years 4090s to sell out at all?

It's a poor system tbh if true - so people could have been customers for a decade and spent tens of thousands of pounds at ocuk, but some jabonie who spent nothing but posts a lot has more access than them

Anyone got any info on whether or not ocuk will be selling the msi vanguard 5090 on the 30th? From a google search its apparently being sold in the uk on launch but other than that ive seen no confirm

Someone said earlier in this thread that the 4090's sold out within 11 minutes of launch. So best bet is to be here at 2pm on the 30th with details entered and payment details ready to copy/paste. Also, try avoiding finance as that could take up to an hour to process which will bump you way down the queue

Pretty much me in this scenario, built my last system using almost exclusively OCUK in 2018 and already bought most of my new 5000 series system via OCUK, only ever lurked forums.

11 minutes! Oh I thought it was like 1 minute all hell breaks loose (that could be this year).

Although i can understand the frustration but any active member here i would imagine has also spend thousand of pounds with OCUK over the years.
This is only for one SKU, so you still have literally all others to choose from. I personally think it's a great idea as it pretty much guarentees that them cards will go to users that will then enjoy them.. not the scalpers and bots that is going to be buying all these cards up and then chuck them on an auction site. Make of that what you will but unfortunately not everyone can be pleased.

Anyway lesson learn't don't link topics or mention it from that forum again.

From what i can gather its still a challenge for 11 minutes. The website comes to a complete crawl so getting details entered is a challenge in itself. Have a card in mind, with a backup before hand. Choose it quick and try to buy, deciding on the day i think will lose you to get one on release. Ive never done a launch before, so im only going from what has been said previously in this thread.

Fairs, gonna be spamming that refresh button before 2pm then just get the first one I see!

Out of curiosity is there a potential thing where you order too many by accident if the ‘Pay Now’ function keeps glitching and if so I’m guessing it’s easy to cancel/return the ones you don’t need?

Agreed. Though perhaps a fairer way would be to allow those with a solid OC's purchase history (proven loyal customers) to get in on the deal as well. I personally have been purchasing from OC's since 2018, with many thousands spent (which would have been a lot more had I ever been able to bag my 3090 and 4090 from them on Day 1, instead of having to go elsewhere.. alas, we all know the site drops to it's knees due to bot account hammering). On the other hand, a forum member may have been actively posting for just a year (or whatever the acceptance gate is) and yet never purchased a thing from OC. Doesn't seem like the best gating criteria to me... There must be a better way, it's the same thing every single time and it's quite frustrating to loyal customers :(

I concur. I rarely post on the forum unless I have something specific to talk about however I almost exclusively buy PC components from Overclockers and have done for at least 20 years!
