I'm in the same position. Built a new system on Boxing Day (minus a GPU) after months of saving and planning. Missing out next week would be a real pain. Hard to see a plan B other than just waiting it out.
Nope, it is just an idea at the moment and are guaging interest.. they haven't advised which 5080 card it is.
Its not like its a well advertised thing plastered all over the actual website "Be active on the forums so you can 100% secure a 5080 on launch day!!" kinda thing is it? More like a under the table pre-order, which, lets be real, is a bit sketchy?
That's actually a pretty great idea!...One option they are considering is putting it to a ridiculous price and then the code brings it down to normal MSRP.. so it should be pretty obvious
It doesn't mean everyone will get one that see's that thread, it just means that members have more of a chance to get one.. instead of scalpers and bots etc..
While there may be an argument there the fact is loyal forum members get first dibs on things like this, as well as other benefits like free delivery and access to the market for buying and selling.

Agreed. Though perhaps a fairer way would be to allow those with a solid OC's purchase history (proven loyal customers) to get in on the deal as well. I personally have been purchasing from OC's since 2018, with many thousands spent (which would have been a lot more had I ever been able to bag my 3090 and 4090 from them on Day 1, instead of having to go elsewhere.. alas, we all know the site drops to it's knees due to bot account hammering). On the other hand, a forum member may have been actively posting for just a year (or whatever the acceptance gate is) and yet never purchased a thing from OC. Doesn't seem like the best gating criteria to me... There must be a better way, it's the same thing every single time and it's quite frustrating to loyal customers

That was mega lulz. I loved the chaos and remember the people complaining about why OCUK held their money so long but they didn;t get their card due to Cryptominers and scalpers, shortages, alignment of the planets etc. It was epic.
